시각예술 매개 변화에 따른 재매개 플랫폼 비즈니스모델 연구 - 유튜브를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Business Model of Remediation Platform Reflecting Changes of Mediation in Art - focused on YouTube -)

초록

본 연구 목적은 시각예술 매개 변화에 따른 현상들을 토대로 재매개 플랫폼의 활용 전략과 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 스마트폰 대중화 이후 소셜미디어와 온라인 플랫폼 환경은 시각예술 분야에도 많은영향을 미치고 있다. 가상 뮤지엄 콘텐츠 개발이 가속화되었고, 온라인 전시 관람과 교육이 보편화되었다. 관람객들은 소셜미디어를 통해 직접 참여하거나 콘텐츠를 생산하기도 한다. 이러한 현상은 ‘매개의 매개’로서의 재매개 현상으로 설명할 수 있다. 시각예술 분야에서 재매개와 관련된 플랫폼과 콘텐츠에 대한 선행 연구들을 살펴 본 결과 동시대적 현상을 고찰한 연구들을 확인할 수 있었다. 하지만유튜브와 같은 특정 플랫폼 활용 방안 연구는 아직 많지 않은 것으로 파악하였다. 특히 시각예술 문화를 매개하는 큐레이터 및 전시기획자 등 전문가 관점에서의 논의는 부재하다고 보았다. 그리하여 본연구는 재매개 플랫폼으로서의 유튜브를 연구 대상으로 삼고, 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 도출하였다.
1) 시각예술 분야에서 유튜브에 대한 매개자들의 인식 및 활용 2) 유튜브를 활용하기 위한 방향과 대상 및 비용 3) 재매개 플랫폼에 대한 이슈 논의 및 시각예술 활성화 방안이다. 연구 문제에 비즈니스모델 캔버스 핵심 요소들을 적용하여 세부 질문을 구성하고, 30~40대 시각예술 매개 전문가 12인에게 FGI를 실행하였다. 도출된 결과를 종합해 유튜브를 중심으로 하는 재매개 플랫폼 비즈니스모델을제안하였다. 그리고 플랫폼의 정의, 콘텐츠의 방향, 그리고 매개자 역할에 대한 전문가들의 관점을 분석하였다. 대중이 원하는 플랫폼의 정체성과 콘텐츠 포맷을 파악하여 그들이 직접 경험하도록 돕는 것이 종합적인 결과의 핵심이다. 매개자는 그에 맞는 기획 및 큐레이션 방법 등 새로운 예술 문법을 개발하는 역할을 해야 한다고 강조할 수 있다.

영어초록

This study aims at seeking strategies and utilization plans of remediation platform on the basis of the status of changes of mediation in art. The environment of social media and online platform has had a significant influence on the field of art. Developing contents of virtual museum has been accelerated, and online exhibition viewing and education has become common. Visitors participate directly through social media or produce contents by themselves. The phenomenon could be explained as a remediation phenomenon as a ‘mediation of mediation’. As a result of examining previous studies on platforms and contents related to remediation in the field of visual arts, studies examining contemporary phenomena were found. However, it was found that there is not yet much research on how to utilize a specific platform such as YouTube. In particular, there are no discussions from the perspectives of experts like curators and exhibition planners who mediate art culture. Therefore, this study targeted YouTube as a remediation platform and derived the research questions as follows. 1) Recognition and utilization of cultural mediators for YouTube in the field of art 2) Directions, targets and costs for using YouTube 3) Discussion of issues regarding remediation platform and activation plan of art. The key elements of Business Model Canvas were applied to the research questions to construct detailed questions for a research interview, and then FGI (focus group interview) was performed on 12 visual arts media experts in their 30s and 40s. Based on the result obtained through this process, a business model of remediation platform centered on YouTube was proposed. In addition, experts’ perspectives on the definition of platform, direction for contents, and the role of cultural mediators were analyzed. Understanding the identity of platform and the format of contents the public wants and helping them experience this themselves is the core point of the comprehensive results. It emphasizes that cultural mediators should play a role in developing a new grammar of art such as suitable methods of planning and curation.
