고려전기 慶州圈域 정비와 邑內･外 분리 (The Reorganization of Gyeongju Area and the Division of the Eub in the early the Goryeo Dynasty)

초록

The King Teajo of the Goryeo Dynasty was to deconstruct the capital of the Silla Dynasty and cut back its role in his early time. It's main purpose was the seize of the administration of this area. The King did it with compromising the tyrannies of the region. He resettled them in Geagyeong, the capital of the Goryeo Dynasty, by way of giving them the life facilities. The old capital was downsized to the periphery by this way.
This business became the foundation for the reorganization of this region afterward. But Gyeongju area was enlarged with reorganizing the administrative districts in the 18th year of the King Teajo. In 23th, the name of the six sub-region was changed and the Ree(里)was reorganized to the Chon(村). Although the King Seongjong tightened the control of the regions of the Dynasty, the administration of Gyeongju was based on the compromising with the Yub-Sa, which was the organization of the regional tyrannies.
The region was re-reorganized in the period of the King Hyunjong. Because most of the Guns-Hyuns near the Gyeongju area were absorbed to the old capital, the regional officials became the Gyesuguan, the leadership who governed the large area in the Dynasty. But the King Hyunjong downsized the inner town of the Gyeongju with building the Chi-So-Sung. The site of the castle was the land of Gyum-Sung. This site was selected with considering the efficiency of administration, the life zone and the topography.
Because of building of the Chi-So-Sung the space of the old city was reorganized as Eub-Chi District, Eub-Yue and Leem Nae to cater for ordinary civil perish. The district where the Eub-Sa and Yeo-Guan-Chung were located became the main Eub in the Chi-So-Sung. The building of the castle means that the Dynasty had consolidated the regional administration. The castle controlled all the sub-region near the east capital. It was the building of Chi-So-Sung that made the district of the old city divide into inner city and outskirts and that made it the core area of the region.
