조선전기 『須溪校本陶淵明詩集』의 간행과 유진옹 비점의 양상 (The publication of Collection of Taoyuanming poetry from the corrected text of Xuxi Liu Chenweng and its aspects of comments and punctuations)

초록

須溪 劉辰翁(1232~1297)은 南宋의 遺民, 宋末의 愛國詞人, 혹은 당대를 대표하는 평점가로서 알려져 있다. 남송 멸망 후 본격적으로 평점활동을 시작하였으며, 그가 평점을 남긴 시인은 두보, 이백, 맹호연, 왕유, 위응물, 소식, 이하 등 58명에 이른다. 이들 수계본 중 일부는 고려말-조선초에 우리나라에 유입되고 목판 또는 활자로 간행되어 문인들 사이에서 널리 독서되었다. 『수계교본도연명시집』은 『정간보주동파화도시화』와, 『풍아익선시』ㆍ『문장정종』 등 시문선집과 더불어 조선전기 문인들이 도연명을 읽고 이해해는 데 적지 않은 영향을 주었을 것으로 보인다. 본고는 진주 간본 『須溪校本陶淵明詩集』을 대상으로, 그 간행 사실과 유진옹 비점의 양상에 대해 고찰하였다.
유진옹 평점의 특징에 대해 程鋸夫는 「嚴元德詩序」(『程鋸夫集』)에서 자신을 작자와 중첩시켜 작품을 읽는 ‘작자와의 同化’의 태도를 들었다. 또한 유진옹의 비평관에 있어 가장 중요한 것은 작품 속에 들어 있는 ‘情’을 중시하는 자세라고 평가된다. 이를 바탕으로 본고는 『須溪校本陶淵明詩集』의 비점 양상을 1) 眞의 추구와 탈세속의 境界, 2) 인생의 유한함과 及時行樂, 3) 전원의 일상과 노동하는 삶, 4) 지음의 부재와 고독감의 발로 등 크게 4가지로 구분하여 분석을 하였다. 이러한 유진옹의 비점이 도연명 수용에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지에 대해서는 후속 연구에서 다루고자 한다.

영어초록

This article explores the publication of Collection of Taoyuanming poetry from the corrected text of Xuxi Liu Chenweng (須溪 劉辰翁, 1232~1297) in the early Chosŏn period and its aspects of his comments and punctuations. Liu Chenweng is well known as a leftover citizen of Sung dynasty, a patriotic author of Ci (詞) as well as a representative commentator of the late Sung period. He began his commentary work after the decline of Sung dynasty and it amounts 58 poets’ works including Du fu, Li Bo, Meng Haoran, Wang Wei, Wei Yingwu, Su Shi etc. where he added comments and punctuations. Some of collections of poets from the corrected text of Xuxi, so-called corrected edition by Xuxi, were imported in the late Koryŏ-early Chosŏn period and reprinted with wooden block as well as bronze type that they were widely read among Koryŏ and Chosŏn literati. It is presumed that Collection of Taoyuanming poetry from the corrected text of Xuxi was one of texts with which Chosŏn literati understood Taoyuanming’s poetry with other collections of Taoyuanming poetry and anthologies including Jingkan Buzhu Dongpo he Tao Shihua (精刊補註東坡和陶詩話), Fengyayi Xuanshi (風雅翼選詩), Wenzhang Zhengzong (文章正宗).
Cheng Jufu (程鋸夫) in his preface to Yan Yuande’s poem (嚴元德詩序) pointed out that the characteristics of the comments and punctuations of Liu Chenweng can be summarized as his sympathetic mind with the author. It is also estimated that the most important element found in the comments of Liu Chenweng is his viewpoint of emphasizing the mind of poets. Based on that, this article divides the aspects of comments and punctuations of Liu Chenweng found in Collection of Taoyuanming poetry from the corrected text of Xuxi into four categories: 1) pursuit of the truth and the boundary beyond vulgarity, 2) the finitude of life and carpe diem, 3) the daily routine of the countryside and the life of labor, 4) the absence of the deep friendship and the expression of loneliness. Follow-up research will deal with the problem how these comments and punctuations of Liu Chenweng influenced Chosŏn literati who were eager to understand Taoyuanming’s poetry properly.
