초록

이 연구는 18세기 이래 간행된 대표 도교 관련 문헌 글자체의 디자인적 특징 분석 아래 새롭게 정착한 한글 궁체의 양식을 고찰 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이에 새로운 도교의 시대정신과 함께 등장한 대표 경전 1796년『경신록언석⟫, 1850년대『주생연사응진경언해』, 1852년『태상감응편도설언해』, 1876년『남궁계적』, 1882년『경석자지문』, 1886년『기령현묘경언해』의 6개 문헌을 선정, 그 디자인적 특성을 고찰 분석하였다. 그 결과, 창제기의 <훈민정음해례본체>와 <훈민정음언해본체> 양식 특징을 넘어 붓 필획에 구체화 되고 순화되는 과정 아래 정착된 한글 궁체 양식이 두드러진특징으로 고찰되었다. 특히 과도기적 형태로써 등장한 명필가 홍태운의 현대적 조형의 글씨체와 다양한 궁체의 정자체, 흘림체, 진흘림체 표현, 그리고 궁체의 활자본 등장을 통해 궁체 정착 과정을 파악했다. 한글 궁체 정착의 큰 요인으로는 불교와 유교를 아우르며 시대의 새로운 종교로 등장한 도교가민간신앙으로서 지식인들로부터 일반인에 이르기까지의 폭넓은 전파 목적에서 기여된 것으로 이해된다. 즉 도교의 보급 확산을 위한 지식인들의 주도는 노련한 붓 필획의 궁체 양식에 공헌한 것이다. 또한 일반인에게도 경전을 쉽게 접하고 읽을 수 있도록 한글 글자체의 독자적 전개와 혼재된 민체 등장도 엿보였다. 이러한 요인은 창제기 왕실 주도의 불교 및 유교 문헌 간행과 차별된다. 이 연구는 도교의 종교적 요인이 사회적 기능으로 한글 궁체 양식 정착에 주요한 영향을 미쳤음을 고찰 규명하였다. 이는 한글 글자체 양식의 역사 정립에 이론적 토대가 될 것이다. 이어 후속 연구를 통해 계속 종교와옛 한글 양식의 다양한 변화와 역사적 고찰 진행이 다루어질 것이다.

영어초록

This study aims to investigate styles of the newly established Hangul Gung-che style under the analysis of design characteristics of old Hangul types in representative Taoist related literature since the 18th century. Six authentic, appeared along with the spirit of the new age of Taoism scriptures have been selected and for analysis : 1796『GyeongsinrokEonseok』, 1850s『JusaengyeonsaeungjinkyungEonhae』, 1852『TaesanggameungpyeondoseolEonhae』, 1876『Namgunggyejeok』, 1882『Gyeongseokjajimun』, 1886『GiryeonghyeonmyogyeongEonhae』. As a result, the characteristics of the Gung-che style in the form of soft curves appeared prominently. This was considered as being embodied and refined in the brush strokes beyond the characteristics of the styles of <HunminjeongeumHaerye> and <HunminjeongeumEonhae> during the Hangul’s invention. In particular, the modern formative of writing style of master Chiarographer Hong Tae-woon, which emerged as a transitional form, the expression of various Gung-che in formal writing, cursive writing and informal cursive writing, as well as the appearance of Gung-che print Type, made it possible to grasp the settlement process of the Gung-che style. It is understood that the spread of Taoism contributed to the establishment of the Gung-che style.
Taoism, which encompasses Buddhism and Confucianism, emerged as a new religion of the times and was accepted as a folk religion by intellectuals and ordinary people. In other words, the initiative of intellectuals to spread Taoism contributed to the settlement of Gung-che style. In addition, there was an independent development of Hangul Type and the appearance of mixed Min-che style. This was to make it easy for the common people to access and read the scriptures. These factors is different point from the publication of Buddhist and Confucian literature centering on the royal family in invent time. This study revealed that the religious factor of Taoism since the 18th century had a great influence on the establishment of Hangul Gung-che style as a social function. Therefore, it is expected to serve as a theoretical basis for the history of Hangul Type style. Subsequently, various changes in the old Hangul Types style and historical considerations will be dealt with through follow-up studies.
