개혁주의 성화론에 있어서 ‘영적 성숙’과 ‘성령충만’의 상관성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between Spiritual Maturity and Holy Spirit Fulfillment in the Reformed Doctrine of the Sanctification)

초록

본 논문의 목적은 ‘성숙한 그리스도인’이 되는 과정과 관련된 ‘성화론’ 에 대한 개혁주의 견해를 성경적 관점에서 재해석하고 고찰하는 것이다.
특히 ‘영적 성숙’에 도달하는 과정에서 ‘그리스도인의 역할’과 ‘하나님의은혜’와의 상호 상관성을 보다 면밀하게 규명해보고자 한다. 교회사적으로 볼 때에, 개혁주의 성화론은 ‘오직 믿음’으로 구원을 받게 된다는 루터의 칭의론에서 출발하였다. 루터의 신학을 계승한 칼빈은 칭의 뿐만 아니라 성화도 강조하였다. 그러나 칼빈과 루터는 공통적으로 ‘기독론적 관점’ 에서 칭의와 성화 교리를 정립하였다.
이러한 종교개혁자의 가르침을 계승한 개혁주의는 ‘기독론적 관점’에서 구원의 서정을 가르쳐왔다. 그 결과 개혁주의는 성화론에 있어서 ‘영적성숙’과 밀접하게 연관되어있는 ‘성령충만’을 강조하기 보다는 ‘기독론적 관점’에서 ‘그리스도와의 신비한 연합’ 교리를 중시하였다. 즉 개혁주의는‘성령체험’을 통한 성화를 가르치기 보다는 종교개혁자들의 교리에 따라서 ‘오직 믿음으로’ 구원받고, ‘그리스도와의 신비한 연합’을 통해 성화를이룰 수 있다고 가르쳐 왔다. 반면에 존 웨슬리와 오순절주의자는 성령 자체의 역사와 능력을 중시하면서, ‘성령체험’의 의미와 그 중요성을 강조하였다. 다만 오순절계통의 교회는 ‘성령의 열매’보다는 ‘성령의 은사’만을중시함으로써 성숙한 신자를 양육하는 일에 실패하고 말았다.
이러한 교회사적 흐름 속에서 개혁주의는 ‘영적 성숙’에 필요한 ‘성령충만’의 중요성을 깨닫고, ‘성령체험’의 의의와 의미를 강조하기 시작하였다. 특히 박형룡은 ‘성령론적 관점’에서 성화론을 다룸으로써, ‘영적 성숙’ 과 관련된 ‘성령충만’의 의미를 시의적절하게 정립할 수 있었다. 따라서오늘의 개혁주의는 종교개혁자들의 5대 정신(오직 믿음. 오직 성경, 오직은혜, 오직 그리스도, 오직 하나님의 영광)을 적극적으로 계승함과 동시에실제적인 ‘성령체험’의 의미를 체계화한 박형룡의 성령론을 적극적으로참고할 필요가 있다. 다만 개혁주의는 은사중심의 성령운동보다는 ‘성령충만’을 통한 ‘영적 성숙’을 강조해야 한다. 왜냐하면 ‘성령충만’은 구원받은 신자가 어린아이같은 미성숙한 단계에서 벗어나서, 성숙한 그리스도인이 되었음을 증명할 수 있는 하나의 중요한 지표가 되기 때문이다. 오늘날한국교회가 ‘성령충만’의 올바른 의미와 중요성을 재인식하고, 실제로 ‘성령충만’을 체험함으로써, 세상 속에서 빛과 소금의 역할을 감당할 수 있기를 기대해본다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to reinterpret and consider the view of the Reformed on the ‘the theory of the sanctification’ related to ‘spiritual maturity’ through ‘biblical perspective’. In particular, the writer likes to examine the correlation between the role of Christians and the grace of God in the process of reaching ‘spiritual maturity’. In the church history, the Reformed doctrine of sanctification began with Luther’s idea of redemption by “only faith”. Calvin, who succeeded Luther’s theology, emphasized not only the justification but also the sanctification.
However, Calvin and Luther commonly established the doctrine of the justification and the sanctification through ‘christological perspective’.
The Reformed, which inherited the teachings of these religious reformers, has taught the order of salvation through ‘christological perspective’. As the result, the Reformed emphasized the doctrine of ‘mysterious union with Christ’ through ‘christological perspective’ rather than ‘Holy Spirit Fulfillment’ which is closely related to “spiritual maturity”. In other words, the Reformed has taught that the believers can obtain the sanctification through ‘mysterious union with Christ’ according to the doctrines of the religious reformers rather than the sanctification through the ‘Holy Spirit Experience’. John Wesley and Pentecostalists, on the other hand, emphasized the meaning and importance of the ‘Holy Spirit Experience’. However, the Pentecostal Church failed to nurture spiritually mature believers by teaching only ‘the gift of the Holy Spirit’ rather than ‘the fruit of the Holy Spirit’.
The recent Reformed realized the importance of the ‘Holy Spirit Fulfillment’ necessary for ‘spiritual maturity’ of the believers and began to present the meaning of Holy Spirit Experience. In particular, Park Hyung-ryong was able to establish the meaning of ‘Holy Spirit Fulfillment’ related to ‘spiritual maturity’ through ‘pneumatological perspective’. Therefore, today’s Reformed should succeed not only the five major slogans of religious reformers (sola fide, sola scriptura, sola gratia, solus Christus, soli Deo gloria) but also refer Park’s theory of Holy Spirit Experience. Especially the Reformed should emphasize ‘spiritual maturity’ through ‘Holy Spirit Fulfillment’ rather than the Pentecostals’ movement emphasizing ‘the gift of the Holy Spirit’. This is because ‘Holy Spirit Fulfillment’ can be an important indicator with which the believers can prove to get out of their immature state like children and grow up to mature Christians.
The writer hopes that the present korean churches can play the role of light and salt of the world by newly recognizing and experiencing ‘Holy Spirit Fulfillment’.
