초록

조선후기 수군 운영의 중추였던 통제영은 8전선 船團과 예하 부속선을 중심으로 편성되었다. 종래에는 제한된 사료 탓에 주로 임란기와 18세기 후반에 초점이 맞춰졌고, 그 구체적인 실상이 드러나지 않았다. 또한 주로 귀선과 같은 특정 군선에 대한 관심이 집중되었다.
본고에서는 19세기 말엽에 작성된 『통제영 해유문기』의 발굴을 통하여 보다 밀착된 통제영 군선의 실태를 파악하고자 하였다. 이 문기는 비록 폐영 직전의 산물이고, 기재상의 미흡함이 있기는 하지만 동종의 해유문서와는 차별성이 뚜렷하였다.
이를 토대로 먼저 18세기 중반 이후의 군선의 보유 실태를 살피고, 나아가 주로 19세기 후반의 타 수영이나 진보의 관련 사료를 활용하여 주로 전선의 諸元을 비교, 검토하였다. 이 과정에서 현충사 소장의 ‘통영수군고문서’ 등의 재검토를 병행하였다. 조선 수군은 동종의 군선 간에도 표준화된 치수를 산정하기는 어려웠고, 시기나 승선 지휘관에 따른 船格의 차이가 있었다.
끝으로 도해선의 연구 성과와 경기수영의 주요 문건을 동원하여 ‘칸(間)’의 개념과 함께 귀선을 비롯한각 전선의 내부 구조를 논의하였다. 일단은 19세기 후반의 통제영 전선의 제원 검토에 주력하였고, 향후 다양한 연구와 논의의 바탕으로 삼고자 한다.

영어초록

The Control camp(the Tongjeyoung), which was the backbone of the naval forces operation in the late Joseon Dynasty, was organized around the 8 Warships fleet and the subordinate ship. In the past, due to limited hisorical data, research on the status of warship in the late Joseon Dynasty was focused was mostly on the Imran(Japanese Invasion of Korea) period and the late 18th century, and the specific facts were not revealed. Also, attention was concentrated mainly on certain military vessels, such as the turtle ship.
This paper sought to find out more closely the status of the military ships in the Tongjeyoung through the excavation of the ‘Tongjeyoung Haeyumungi’ written in the late 19th century. This writing style was distinct from the same type of Haeyu documents, although it was a product just before the closure of the military camp and was insufficient in the description.
Based on this, first examined the status of military ships after the mid-18th century, and further compared and reviewed the specifications of the warships mainly by utilizing other Naval Camp and Base related historical materials from the latter half 19th century. In this process, the re-examination of the documents in the Hyeonchungsa’s possession, ‘Tongyoung naval ancient writing paper’, etc., was carried out simultaneously. It was difficult for Joseon’s naval forces to calculate standardized dimensions between the military vessels of the same species, and there were differences in timing and the commander of the ships.
Finally, we discussed the internal structure of each warship, including the Turtle Ship, with the concept of ‘k’an(間), by mobilizing the research results of the Dohaeseon(渡海船) and the main documents of Gyeonggi Suyeong(京畿水營). For now, we focused on reviewing the specifications and internal structure of the Tongjeyoung Warship in the latter half 19th century and want to use it as the basis for various research and discussion in the future.
