전북 동부지역에 진출한 가야와 백제의 접경문화와 지역 정치체 검토 (A Review of Border Culture and Local Political Center between Gaya and Baekje Advanced to Eastern Jeonbuk Province)

초록

전북 동부지역은 서부지역과 달리 복합된 문화양상을 가진 유적들이 다수 존재함에 따라 이와 관련한 역사적 해석을내놓는데 많은 혼란을 야기하고 있다. 이러한 혼란을 줄여보고자 본 논문은 유적 분포현황을 토대로 지역별 문화양상을 살펴보고 문화권과 지역성을 검토하였다. 그 결과 문화권별 검토를 통해 상사성과 상이성을 확인할 수 있었다. 동부지역은 가야문화권역과 백제문화권역으로 크게 양분되고 이 문화권은 더 세분될 수 있다. 백두대간을 중심으로 금강 상류와 남강 상류 일원이 가야문화권에 포함되고 만경강 상류~섬진강 상류에 이르는 서부 일대가 백제문화권에 포함된다. 만경강 상류 지역의 경우, 백제 유적 외에도 가야와 관련되는 것으로 제기되는 봉화가 확인된다. 섬진강유역은마한·백제·가야의 물질문화가 복잡한 양상으로 확인되는데 6세기 전반 이후에 진출한 백제의 유적들을 제외하면주로 재지계 문화와 가야의 물질문화만 남게 된다. 가야문화는 남강유역의 소가야와 대가야 등의 가야문화가 혼재된상태이나 6세기 전후한 시점에 대가야문화 위주로 바뀌는 양상이 확인되며 반대편의 섬진강유역도 유사한 문화적 흐름을 보인다.
따라서 각 문화의 비중은 지역마다 조금씩 다르지만 전북지역의 섬진강 상류 일원과 남강 상류 일원은 5세기 대 유사한 문화적 복합양상을 보임에 따라 양직공도와 삼국사기 등에서 지칭하는 기문의 위치로 두 지역이 같이 검토되어야 한다. 기문 중 가장 유력한 정치체로 추정되는 상기문은 가야의 고총이 밀집된 남강 상류 일대가 유력한 거점지로추정된다. 일본서기에서 동시기에 보여지는 반파는 주로 6세기 전반에 백제·왜와 활발한 접촉을 가지는 것으로 보이는데 지리산을 중심으로 하는 주변지역에서 대가야계 문화가 주요 문화로 유입 혹은 일시 정착되는 양상이 확인되고있어 관련 정치체의 문화양상을 짐작해 볼 수 있다.

영어초록

Unlike the western part of the province, the eastern part of Jeonbuk Province has many historical sites with complex cultural aspects, causing confusion in historical interpretations.
To reduce this confusion, this paper examines the cultural aspects of each region according to the distribution of historical sites and reviews the cultural regions and the regionality, confirming the similarities and differences between the regions through a cultural review. The eastern region is largely divided into the Gaya cultural region and the Baekje cultural region, which latter could be further subdivided. Centering around the Baekdudaegan Mountain range, Geum River and Nam River are part of the Gaya cultural region, and the western areas from Mangyeong River to Seomjin River are considered the Baekj ecultural region. Mangyeong River of the Baekje cultural region appears to have been a temporarily occupied territory because only beacon-related Gaya remains were identified in addition to Baekje ruins.
Seomjin River shows a complex material culture with Mahan, Baekje, and Gaya elements; excluding the remains of Baekje, which expanded after the first half of the 6th century, mainly indigenous culture and Gaya material culture were found. Gaya culture appears to have been a mixture of Sogaya and Daegaya culture in the Nam river basin, but there are signs of changes centered around the Daegaya culture around the first half of the 6th century, and Seomjin River on the other side showed a similar trend.
Although the proportion of each culture varies from region to region, the upper area of the Seomjin River and the upper Nam River in the Jeonbuk region show similar cultural complex patterns from the 5th century. Therefore, these two regions combined should probably be considered the area referred to as Gimun in the Yangjikgongdo and the Samguksagi etc.
Sanggimun, which is believed to have been the most influential political center of the Gimun region, is estimated to have had a stronghold around Nam River, where the ancient Gaya tombs were concentrated. The Banpa that appears in theN ihon Shoki during the same period had active contact with Baekje and Japanese in the first half of the 6th century. It is assumed that Daegaya culture was introduced or temporarily settled in the surrounding area around Jirisan Mountain.
