초록

마립간기 신라 중앙과 지방의 관계는 금공 착장장신구의 사여를 통해 이루어졌다. 반면 지방에서는 특수하게 제작된 토기가 그 역할을 대신하였다. 그중에서도 통형기대는 기존 연구를 통해 그 특별함이 검증되었다. 특히 신라 지방의 통형기대는 그 형태적 특징이나 전개 양상이 중앙과는 달라 신라 지방과 관련된 좋은 연구 주제임에도 관심을 기울이지 않았다.신라 서북지역을 중심으로 확인되는 수직돌대장식 통형기대는 신라 중앙에서는 확인되지 않고 대가야를 중심으로 나타나는 특징이라는 점이 흥미롭다. 이러한 사실에 관심을 기울여 신라와 가야 전체를 아울러 살펴본 결과 신라의 수직돌대장식은 가야지역과 거의 동시에 출현하였고, 이후 5세기 중엽을 기점으로 신라 서북지역을 중심으로 확산하였음이 확인되었다. 출토 수량이나 생산시설의 존재로 보아 중심지는 의성이라 할 수 있는데 이를 중심으로 백제, 대가야, 신라 중앙(동해안)으로 향하는 세 방향의 경향성이 확인된다.신라 서북지역 수직돌대장식 통형기대는 두립문과의 결합을 특징으로 하며, 매장의례 방식이나 호통부의 존재를 통해 가야와의 교류 가능성이 상정된다. 또한 신라 서북지점에서는 나름 거점이라 할 수 있는 고총 고분이 축조되는 무덤군에서만 출토되어 당시 지방에 형성된 계서적 관계를 확인할 수 있다. 한편 신라 중앙 또는 해안 지역과의 교류에서는 지방거점보다는 중소집단과 직접 교류하는 양상이 확인되기도 하였다. 이를 통해 신라 지방 집단 사이에 이루어진 다양한 교류 방식을 확인하였다.이처럼 수직돌대장식 통형기대는 의성을 중심으로 형성된 신라 서북지역 마립간기 지방 집단 간의 중층적 계서관계가 복합적으로 반영된 기물로서 당시 자연적으로 형성된 지방조직의 모습을 반영하고 있다. 이는 6세기 초 이루어지는 신라 지방지배의 근간이 된다는 점에서 관심을 기울일 필요가 있다.

영어초록

In the mid-5th century, relations between the central and local governments of Silla were established through award for goldsmith's ornaments. On the other hand, it is presumed that pottery functioned as a prestige item in local areas. Among them, the special properties of the tube shaped pottery stand(筒形器臺) have been verified through previous research. However, if it is limited to Silla, it did not receive much attention. In particular, the tube shaped pottery stand of provinces of Silla were considered to be suitable as research subjects for local areas of Silla, because they differed from the tube shaped pottery stand of the central region in terms of morphological characteristics and developmental patterns, but in reality, they received no attention at all. It is interesting that the tube shaped pottery stand with vertical line band decorations found mainly in the northwestern region of Silla is a characteristic that appears mainly in Daegaya, but not in central Silla. Paying attention to these facts, we examined Silla and Gaya as a whole. As a result, Silla's vertical line band decorations appeared almost at the same time as those in the Gaya region. And it was confirmed that the vertical line band decorations spread from the northwestern region of Silla starting in the mid-5th century. Judging from the quantity of excavated goods and the existence of production facilities, the center can be said to be Uiseong(義城), and there is a confirmed tendency toward three directions: Baekje, Daegaya, and the central part(east coast) of Silla. The vertical line band decorations in the northwestern region of Silla are characterized by bean-shaped patterns(豆粒文), and the possibility of exchanges with Gaya is assumed through the burial ritual method and the presence of the jar tube part(壺筒部). In addition, it was only unearthed in the ancient tombs with a high and large mound(高塚古墳) that could be considered stronghold areas in the northwest of Silla. Through these clues, the hierarchical relationships formed in the region at that time will be revealed. Meanwhile, in the exchanges with the central and coastal regions of Silla, it was confirmed that direct exchanges took place with small and medium-sized groups rather than with local strongholds. Therefore, it can be observed that there were various forms of exchange between local groups in Silla. In this way, the tube shaped pottery stand is an artifact that comprehensively reflects the multi-layered hierarchical relationship between local groups in the northwestern region of Silla during the Maripgan period centered around Uiseong, and reflects the appearance of the local organization that was naturally formed at the time. This needs to be given attention in order to understand how Silla governed the provinces in the early 6th century.
