초록

檀君을 頂點으로 하는 國祖觀의 태동을 삼국재건 운동을 진압한 13세기 경에 국가적 통일성의 확립을 위한 산물로 해석해 왔다. 이러한 논리는 그 나름대로의 근거와 간결한 메시지로서 설득력이 있었다. 즉 시대적 환경과 관련해 호소력 있는 견해로 간주되어 왔다. 그러나 『삼국사기』에서 이미 ‘仙人 王儉'의 존재가 평양과 관련해 등장하고 있다. 이 사실은 『삼국사기』가 편찬되는 1145년 이전에 檀君과 平壤을 관련 짓는 인식의 존재를 암시해준다. 더욱이 『삼국유사』와 『제왕운기』의 底本에서 ‘檀君本紀'의 존재가 확인되었다. 이 사실은 적어도 13세기 이전에 檀君을 주제로 한 역사 서술과 인식이 嚴存했음을 뜻한다.
‘檀君本紀'는 고려 초에 편찬된 『구삼국사』의 篇目으로 지목되었다. 동시에, 단군은 始源으로 하는 擬制的 大家族關係가 설정되었던 것이다. 그 이유는 후삼국을 통일한 직후에 분열을 상쇄하고 동질성의 확보를 통한 대통합을 유지하려는 고려 조정의 정치적 의도에서 기인하였다. 西京을 기반으로 한 묘청의 반란을 진압한 직후에 김부식은 『삼국사기』 편찬을 시작했다. 김부식은 檀君을 정점으로 한 大家族主義的 역사 서술의 진실성을 의심하게 되었다. 또 그것을 타파하려는 목적이『삼국사기』 편찬으로 이어진 것이다.
歷史 疆域은 현실적인 정치 환경과 밀접한 관련을 맺으면서 변화해 왔었다. 遼와의 대립에서부터 遼의 쇠퇴와 金이 등장하자 평양=대동강 유역을 비롯한 한반도 서북부 지역에 한정된 고조선 강역이 遼東으로 확대되었다. 강역 지배의 근거로서 역사적 근거가 새롭게 제시된 것이다. 역사 기록은 현실의 정치적 이익과 환경에 따라 얼마든지 재구성이 가능하다는 사실을 알려주고 있다.
요컨대 이러한 諸般 정치적 요인을 제거하고 사실에 따른 歷史像의 구현이 『삼국사기』 편찬 동기로 보였다. 그럼에 따라 名實相符한 삼국만의 역사인 『삼국사기』가 완성된 것이다.

영어초록

The beginning of viewpoint perceiving Dangun as progenitor of Korea nowadays is interpreted as the necessity to establish the national unity in the 13th century while suppressing the movement of the reconstruction of three kingdoms. Such reasoning had persuasive power as concise message having basis in its own way. I.e., it was regarded as an appealing point of view related to the circumstances of the period. However, the presence of ‘Dangunbongi (Dangun's evidence)’ was confirmed to exist in the materials by being quoted in Samgukyusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms) and Jewangungi (Rhymed Chronicles of Sovereigns). This fact means that the historical description and perception of Dangun really existed as early as the 12th century.
‘Dangunbongi’ was pointed out as a chapter of Gu-Samguksa that was compiled in the early Goryeo dynasty and, at the same time, it disclosed Dangun as the originator of the fictional relations of an extended family. The reason for it arose from the political intentions to adjust Goryeo dynasty in order to offset the division and to maintain the great consolidation securing the homogeneity right after the unification of later Three Kingdoms. Kim Busik started to compile his Samguksagi (History of the Three Kingdoms) right after the oppression of Myo Cheong's Rebellion which was based in Seogyeong (present Pyongyang). Kim Busik started to question the veracity of historical descriptions putting Dangun as the top figure in the extended family ideology. Samguksagi was compiled with the aim to overthrow such point of view.
Historical borders were changing in the tight relations with the actual political situation. The confrontation with Khitan Empire, the collapse of Khitan Empire and appearance of Jurchen Jin dynasty were the reason why the historical borders of Gojoseon that were assumed to be restricted in the north-western region of Korean peninsula only up to the south of Amnok River expanded up to Liaodong peninsula. Historical data were newly presented to ground the domination over the territory. Historical records tells that reconstitution of history is possible as much as required according to the actual political benefits and real situation. To sum up, the realization of actual historical image eliminating all such political reasons seemed to be the motive to compile Samguksagi. As shown by its name, according to this, it was accomplished as the history of only the Three Kingdoms.
