초록

이 논문은 프랑스의 현대 사유의 지평에서 마리옹과 로마노에 대한 비교연구를 통해 사건개념을 자리매김하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 먼저 마리옹은 후설을 비판하면서 현상의 이해를 확대했지만, 여전히 직관을 중시하여 현상의 자체성을 통해 사건을 현전화할 수 있는 것으로 규정한다. 마리옹은 후설의 현상이 단지 빈곤한 직관에 기반하고 있음을 비판하면서, 자신의 현상개념을 포화된 현상이라 하여 풍부한 직관과 연결시킨다. 이런 현상에 도달하는 방법으로서 마리옹은 환원을 새롭게 해석한다. 우리는 이런 환원 개념을 통해 사건을 현상의 현전으로 파악할 수 있다. 이런 이유로 해서 마리옹의 사건 개념은 일종의 직관주의에 한정된다. 반면에 로마노는 마리옹의 이런 입장을 비판하면서 사건은 환원을 통해 현전화할 수 없는 것이라고 명확히 주장한다. 사건은 주체의 능력 밖에서 도래하는 것이기에 언제나 해석을 필요로 하며, 이런 해석의 과정을 통해서만 사건은 현상할 수 있다. 요컨대 사건의 현상은 해석학적 과정을 필요로 한다는 것이다. 여기서 사건과 해석의 연결은 현상학이 그 자체로 존립하는 것이 아니라 해석학에 의존하고 있음을 잘 보여준다. 본 논문에서는 마리옹과 로마노를 비교하면서 마리옹의 한계를 살펴보고 로마노를 통해 해석학의 새로운 가능성을 찾아보고자 한다.

영어초록

This paper aims to position the concept of event in the intellectual landscape of contemporary french philosophy through the comparison of Jean-Luc Marion and Claude Romano. Jean-Luc Marion's phenomenological project is based on a critique of the traces of a constituting subject or pure ego that are retained by Husserl and he tried to extend the understanding of phenomenon. However, he stress the intuition and characterizes the event as presentable. While Marion's phenomenology of givenness eliminates these modern concepts of subject, it does so by transforming the subject into a passive recipient on whom phenomena impose itself. For this reason, Marion’s concept of event is limited to a sort of intuitionism. In order to illuminate the phenomenon which allows us to find saturated givenness, he also reinterprets the concept of reduction whose role paly the guider leading us to the self of phenomenon that implies the presence in the regard of intuition. Marion interprets this self as the saturated phenomenon of which the excessive un-conditionality is defined as the event. While Marion defines the event for the excellent phenomenon like saturated phenomenon, Claude Romano insists on the non-presence of event with which one could keep up by apres-coup. In criticizing Marion’s position, Romano persists that the events is unpresentable and unaccessible by the Reduction. Since this unpresentable event arrives beyond the capacity of subject, it is required to be interpreted and presentable within this interpretation. The linkage between the event and interpretation represents very well the necessity of the hermeneutic moment in the phenomenology. In other words, the manifestation of event relies on the interpretation which the subject tried to elaborate. This paper compares both Marion and Romano and, in so doing, draws attention to Romano’s contribution to the hermeneutics.
