초록

(연구 배경 및 목적) 본 연구는 건축의 기호, 기법, 기의 관계가 다른 매체의 디자인과 상호작용할 수 있는지 그 관계성에 대해 탐구한다. 건축은 기호학적 체계와 다양한 기법을 통해 공간과 형태를 표현해왔으며, 현대에는 건축가의 언어가 파빌리온이라는 건축 형태로 발현되고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 건축적 요소들이 가구 디자인이나 의상 디자인과 관계하는지에 대해 하나의 통합적 파빌리온 행사 사례를 통해 분석하고, 건축적 사고와 방법론이 타 매체 디자인에 미치는 영향을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. (연구 방법) 엠 파빌리온 프로젝트는 건축을 기반으로 가구와 의상 디자인 의뢰가 이루어지며, 건축 요소에 대한 타 분야와의 관계성이 도드라진다. 문헌 연구를 통해 건축 기호학적 체계와 이론적 배경을 조사하고, 이를 기반으로 엠 파빌리온의 건축적 기호와 기법이 가구 디자인 의상 디자인에 어떻게 표현되는지 탐구한다. (결과) 연구 결과, 파빌리온에서 사용된 압축적 기법이 가구 디자인, 의상디자인이라는 다른 분야에서 기호학적으로 상호작용이 가능함을 확인하였다. 특히 엠 파빌리온의 사례에서는 빛을 활용한 기법과 색감, 재질 같은 기법이 변형 없이 공유되는 경향을 보였다. (결론) 본 연구는 건축적 기호와 기법이 다른 디자인 분야에 영향을 줄 수 있음을 시사한다. 이는 파빌리온에 사용된 건축적 기호가 다른 매체의 디자인으로 확장될 수 있으며, 공유된 기호를 활용함으로서 타 분야의 디자인과 원활하게 통합할 수 있음을 의미한다. 건축의 기호학적 체계와 기법들은 다양한 디자인 분야에서 창의적이고 실용적으로 응용될 수 있다. 이러한 결과는 건축 기호학을 기반으로 한 창의적 표현과 설계에 대한 기초연구로 활용될 수 있다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) This study explores the potential for the relationships among signs, techniques, and meanings in architecture to be interpreted and applied in the design of other media. Architecture has traditionally used semiotic systems and a variety of techniques to convey space and form. In the contemporary era, the language of architects is often manifested in the form of pavilions, which serve as a condensed expression of architectural concepts. The goal of this research is to analyze how these architectural elements can be translated into furniture and fashion design and to investigate how architectural thinking and methodologies can impact and inform the design of other media. (Method) The study uses the MPavilion project as a primary case study, where architecture serves as the foundation for designing furniture and fashion. This project highlights the relationship between architectural elements and other design disciplines. The research begins with a literature review to examine the semiotic systems and theoretical underpinnings of architecture. Based on this foundation, the study explores how the architectural signs and techniques used in the MPavilion are expressed and adapted in furniture and fashion design. This includes an analysis of how these architectural elements, such as the use of light, color, and materials, are translated into other design forms. (Results) The findings reveal that the methods of condensed expression of meaning employed in the pavilion can indeed interact with and be applied to design in other media. In the case of the MPavilion, techniques like the use of light, color, and texture were observed to be shared across different design disciplines without significant alteration. This suggests that the architectural principles utilized in the pavilion have a broader applicability in the design of other media, allowing for a seamless integration of architectural ideas into furniture and fashion design. (Conclusion) This research suggests that architectural signs and techniques can have a significant influence on other design fields. The study demonstrates that the semiotic systems and techniques developed in architecture can be creatively and practically applied in various design disciplines, offering new ways of thinking and creating. These results indicate that architectural thinking and methodologies have the potential to expand beyond their traditional boundaries and contribute to the innovation of other design fields. This interdisciplinary approach could open up new possibilities for creative expression and practical design solutions, fostering a deeper understanding of how architectural principles can be integrated into the broader context of design.
