초록

이 글은 수치심과 혐오의 감정을 중심으로 『만엔 원년의 풋볼』에 접근함으로써 조선인에 대한 전후 일본인의 이중적 관계 방식을 밝히고, 이를 토대로 오늘날 혐한의 감정적 원천을 추적하는 데 그 목적이 있다.
『만엔 원년의 풋볼』은 다카시의 실천(슈퍼마켓 습격 사건)을 중심으로 전후 일본인의 ‘업루티드’된 정체성 문제를 다룬 작품이다. 특히 이 작품에서 중요한 점은 조선인이 일본 사회의 아브젝시옹(‘혹’ 같은 존재)이자 슈퍼마켓 천황(조선인과 미국인의 혼종적 에스니시티)으로서 혐오와 수치심을 유발하는 민족, 즉 일본인의 정체성을 ‘업루티드’하게 만드는 구성적 타자로서 제시된다는 데 있다. 그로 인해 슈퍼마켓 습격 사건과 그 실패 이후 전후 일본인들은 자기 식민지화의 태도를 통해 하위주체적 정체성을 형성하는 한편, 다카시를 계승하는 하나의 방식으로서 조선인에 대한 분노와 저항감의 내면화를 실현하기도 한다. 여기서는 하위주체화와 함께 차별적 르상티망의 형성(분노와 저항감의 내면화)이 동시에 전개되고 있다. 가시화할 수 없을 만큼 절대적인 미국인의 지배력 앞에서, 일본인은 역사적 민족으로서의 조선인을 미국의 대리자로 ‘상상’하면서 그에 대한 혐오와 수치심을 느끼는 한편 자기 식민화와 차별적 르상티망의 태도를 취하는 것이다. 그리고 오늘날 혐한 감정은 이와 같은 복합적 감정 속에 자리잡고 있는지 모른다.
그러므로 『만엔 원년의 풋볼』은 혐한 감정이 기본적으로 경계와 위계에 의한 민족 관계 인식에 따른 감정(혐오와 수치심)의 문제라는 사실, 그리고 이 감정의 해소는 조선인(한국인)에 대한 인식의 교정만으로는 성취될 수 없으며 오히려 미국인과 조선인(한국인)에 대한 분리된 인식과 함께 경계와 위계라는 인식틀의 폐기가 이루어질 때 비로소 성취 가능하다는 사실을 보여주는 작품이라고도 말할 수 있다.

영어초록

The aim of this paper is to explore the double realionship of Korean and Japanese in the era of post-war by reading The Football of the First Year of Manen from the perspective of the sentiments of shame and disgust, and, based on this exploration, to trace the emotional sources of anti-Korea(n) sentiment today.
The Football of the First Year of Manen is the work deaing with the issue of “uprootedess” Japanese identity in the era of post-war, centering on Takashi’s practice (an event of invasion of supermarket). Specifically, to be noticed in this work is that Korean, an abjection of Japanese society (the being as “a bump”) and an emperor (a hybrid ethnicity of Korean and American), is represented as a nation stimulating Japanese shame and disgust, that is, the constructive other making Japanese identity “uprooted.” Therefore, after the final failure of Japanese invasion of supermarket , Japanese make themselves the subalterns through the process of self-colonization, and, at the same time, practice the internalization of their anger and resistence to Korean. In here, the self-subalternization and the formation of differential ressentiment are actualized simultaneously. That is to say, facing the invisible and omnipotent American power, Japanese feel their shame and disgust to Korean by imagining Korean, a historical nation, as the representative of American control, and, on the other hand, pose the attitude of self-colonization and differential ressentiment. And, in this complex emotions, we can find the emotional sources of anti-Korea(n) sentiment today.
Consequently, this work can be said to show that anti-Korea(n) sentiment basically is the issue of the emotions (shame and disgust) as a result of the understanding of the national relationship based on boundary and hierarchy, and the solution of these emotions can not be achieved merely by the correction of Japanese understanding of Korean, but by the distinguished understanding of Korean and American and by the abolision of the problematique of boundary and hierarchy.
