초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 현대 문명에서 산업의 혁신은 가장 최전선에 위치한 기업들의 정체성에 가장 많은 질문을 던지고 있다. 이 질문은 기업을 둘러싼 모든 환경까지 확장된다. 4차 산업혁명은 특정한 기업 형태에서만 나타나는 것은 아니며, 많은 기업들이 저마다의 방식으로 혁신(Innovation)을 추구하고 있다. 그러나 우리는 혁신을 추구하는 새로운 기업 형태로‘스타트업 기업(Start-up Company)’을 꼽으며, 이들은 정체성은 물론, 조직 및 업무 방식에서도 기존의 기업들과 뚜렷한 차이를 보인다. 기업은 산업분야의 특징과 조직의 특성에 맞는 업무공간을 필요로 한다. 스타트업 기업들은 조직운영의 기본으로 수평적 커뮤니케이션을 추구하며, 고도의 지식전달과 빠른 의사결정을 위해 원활한 커뮤니케이션을 추구한다. 본 논문은 이같이 스타트업 기업들의 다양한 공간의 양상 중에 새로운 지각을 형성 시키고 공간의 구조적인 특수성으로 인해 발생하는 커뮤니케이션의 증대에 주목하였다. 이를 위해, 스타트업 기업은 자신들의 공간에 어메니티를 확보하고 어메니티의 감성적 특성을 활용하여 창의성을 이끌어내는 특징이 있음을 발견하였다. 기존 기업들의 업무공간에서는 업무와 직접적인 관련성이 없다고 천대 받던 요소들이, 전면에 배치되고, 수평적인 커뮤니케이션의 공간이자, 그들의 스트레스를 줄이고 감성을 자극시키는 다양한 체험을 가능케 하는 공간으로 탈바꿈 되었다. 이 같은 공간의 새로운 특성은 창의성의 발현에 많은 영향을 주기에 많은 기업들이 그 중요성을 인지하고 앞으로의 업무공간에 어메니티의 감성적인 특성이 적용되어야 함을 알리는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. (연구방법) 본 연구는 현대 사회의 변화에 따라 형성된 업무공간 중 스타트업 기업의 공간의 특성을 고찰하고, 공간의 쾌적성을 판가름하는 어메니티가 주요한 감성 획득의 수단으로 활용되는 것에 주목하며, 어메니티의 감성적 특성을 파악 하고자 한다. 이를 뒷받침하기 위해, 국내의 스타트업 기업 중 이 같은 특성을 계획단계에서부터 적극 활용하고 있는 ㈜우아한형제들의 업무 공간을 중심으로 어메니티의 감성적 특성을 분석하고자 한다. (결과) 스타트업 기업의 업무공간의 특성은 다양성, 융합성, 유희성, 상징성, 효율성으로 파악하여 볼 수 있다. 위의 특성들은 서로 복합적으로 포함되는 경우가 대부분이다. 예를 들어, 유희성은 융합성과도 상호 보완적인 특성으로 존재하게 된다. 이처럼 스타트업 공간의 감성적 어메니티의 5가지의 특성은 복합적으로 적용되고 있다. 어느 한 가지만 강조되는 특성으로는 공간의 특성상 불가능하다. (결론) 어메니티는 인간의 심리에 다방면에서 영향을 미친다. 많은 성공적인 스타트업 기업들의 업무 공간에서 이러한 어메니티의 추구를 발견할 수 있는 것에서 비추어 볼 때, 우리는 어메니티의 확보가 창의성의 발현과 상당한 관계가 있다는 것을 유추할 수 있다. 이들은 업무공간의 어메니티를 통해 감각을 자극하여 ‘감성’을 이끌어 내는데 에 초점이 맞춰져 있으며, 이는 그들의 존재 목적인, 혁신(Innovation)을 추구하기 위해 창의성을 발현시키는 하나의 방법인 것이다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) In modern civilization, industrial innovation posed a question to a variety of existing beings and, specifically, to the identity of enterprises which was closely related with industry. This question can be expanded to all environments surrounding these enterprises. The fourth industrial revolution could not be found in any specific type of business; in fact, several kinds of businesses look for ways to innovate. However, Start-up is representative of new type of enterprise that pursues innovation. There is a sharp distinction between a start-up and front runners in terms of organization and the way they operate. Obviously, their goal is innovation because the enterprise requires workspaces that match with characteristics of industry and organization. Start-up pursues horizontal communication as a principle of organization management, as well as smooth communication to transmit advanced knowledge and improve the speed of decision. This study focused on the expansion of communication caused by structural characteristics that created new recognition, among which, were the aspects of various spaces in Start-up enterprises. These featured distinctive characteristics; it secured amenities in the workspace and utilized the emotional characteristics of amenities to promote creativity. Some elements that do not seem to be related with work were placed in front as if they tried to show their identity of company. Their purpose was to enable employees to enjoy a broad variety of experiences to decrease their stress level. In turn, this would assist in developing sensitivity in order to influence them to increase creativity expression and be aware of its importance. All the while letting all know that the emotional characteristic must be adopted to amenities for the workspace in future. (Method) This study is geared to consider the characteristics of Start-up businesses among the workspaces that were formed according to changes in modern societies. Further investigations involve the emotional characteristics of amenities while focusing on them which determine whether the space is pleasant or not. This can be utilized as a mean of sensitivity. The emotional characteristics of amenities were analyzed focusing on overseas and Korean Start-up space to support this argument. (Results) The characteristics of the work space of the start-up company can be identified by diversity, convergence, playability, symbolism, and efficiency. Most of the above characteristics are contained in a complex manner. For example, playability exists as complementary characteristics of fusion. Thus, the five characteristics of the emotional amenity of the start-up space are applied in combination. One characteristic is emphasized by the nature of space.(Conclusion) The amenity influences human psychology in all sorts of ways. As many successful start-up businesses have space that pursues such amenities, it is inferred that acquisition has much to do with expression of creativity. Their workspaces pay attention to amenities for employees while stimulating the senses in order to bring out their sensitivity. Thus, this becomes one of ways to manifest creativity in pursuit of innovation, which is their purpose of existence.
