초록

This study is focused on Gold-mining industry in French West Africa which is composed of 9 countries which were the former colonies of France. I focused mainly on four countries for this study and there were three mines being developed mutually. Two of this countries Mali and Burkina-faso are developed while Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire are less developed. These mines are Sadiola Hill mine, which is the biggest mine in the French West Africa and also the third in Africa, Siguiri mine in Guinea, which produces about 8 tons a year, and Tongon in Côte d'Ivoire, all are an on going mining industry.
As there are more mining developments going on, this will make them greatest producers. Thus S. Korea could have a new partnership to explore market to boost economy. Not just importing Gold, but we should have a great interest and put more importance in this industry. First of all, Sadiola Hill gold mine in Mali has a low prime cost of production at 50 percent, half the production cost of other gold mines. Mali president His Excellency Amadou Toumani once said that Sadiola’s gold is the cheapest in the world. It is for sure that the gold mine holds a comparative advantage by itself. Second, it is possible to develop for new investment markets as there are a lot of undeveloped mines. As many mines are being developed, gold prices have gone up rapidly in the international market .we might lose a chance if we postpone exploring the market.
With all of these effects, we are to study on gold-mining in French West Africa and it is enough to be a subject of discussion although the area has no closer geographic proximity with our country and there has been no trade so far.
