국내 업사이클링 스타트업 활성화를 위한 지원 방안 연구 (A Study of Startup Measures to Revitalize Upcycling Startups in Korea)

초록

연구배경 : 현대 사회에서는 환경오염 문제에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있으며, 업사이클링 디자인에 대한 관심도 높아지고 있다. 업사이클링은 산업 폐기물과 생활 쓰레기를 새로운 제품으로 탄생시키는 방법을 의미하며, 업사이클링 시장은 성장 가능성이 높지만, 공급이 부족하다. 반면, 정부의 창업 지원은 증가하고 있지만, 업사이클링이나 디자인 관련 창업기업은 지원을 받기 어려운 상황이다. 본 연구는 국내 업사이클링 디자인 창업기업의 육성과 활성화를 위해 필요한 창업지원 요소를 조사하여 지속 가능한 창업기업을 위한 방안을 모색한다.
연구방법 : 본 연구는 업사이클링 디자인 창업과 관련하여 설문조사를 통해 창업지원의 현 상황을 파악하는 연구로 진행된다. 범위는 창업일로부터 7년 이내의 국내 업사이클링 스타트업과 국내 창업지원에 한정되며, 이론적 배경 조사, 법령 조사, 설문조사를 통해 창업 분야의 특징과 문제점을 분석하여 창업지원 요소를 도출한다.
연구결과 : 설문조사 결과, 대부분의 창업기업은 창업 전에 정부의 창업지원 프로그램을 받은 경험이 있었으며, 받은 지원의 횟수는 평균적으로 3.75회로 나타났다. 자금조달 문제와 마케팅 및 홍보의 부족이 창업 후 운영에서 가장 어려운 점으로 나타났으며, 창업지원 프로그램 중 자금 지원과 제품 개발 지원이 유용하게 활용되었다.
결론 : 정부 주도 스타트업 지원 사업은 빠르게 증가하고 있지만, 업사이클링 스타트업을 위한 지원은 부족하며, 자금조달과 마케팅 부족이 주요 어려움으로 나타났다. 창업 전 지원 프로그램의 효과를 유지하면서도 창업 후 지원에 대한 개선이 필요하며, 업사이클링 스타트업에 특화된 전문가와 기관을 활용하여 특화 지원 사업을 마련해야 한다.

영어초록

Background : In the modern world, there is a growing concern about environmental pollution and a growing interest in upcycling design. Upcycling is a way to turn industrial waste and household waste into new products, and the upcycling market has a high potential for growth but is in short supply. On the other hand, the government's support for startups is increasing, but it is difficult for startups related to upcycling and design to receive support. This study investigates the startup support factors needed to foster and revitalize domestic upcycling and design startups and seeks ways to create sustainable startups.
Methods : This study was conducted to identify the current situation of startup support through a survey in relation to upcycling design startups. The scope is limited to domestic upcycling startups and domestic startup support within seven years of the startup date. Through theoretical background research, statutory research, and surveys, the characteristics and problems of the startup field are analyzed to derive elements of startup support.
Results : According to the survey results, most of the startups had received government startup support programs before starting their business, and the average number of times they received support was 3.75. Financing problems and lack of marketing and promotion were found to be the most difficult aspects of post-startup operations, and funding and product development support were useful among the startup support programs.
Conclusion : While the number of government-led startup support programs is growing rapidly, there is a lack of support for upcycling startups, with financing and marketing being the main challenges. While maintaining the effectiveness of pre-startup support programs, post-startup support needs to be improved, and specialized support programs should be established using experts and organizations specialized in upcycling startups.
