한국어 모어화자 일본어 학습자와 일본어 모어화자의 에세이 작문에 나타난 산출 어휘의 특징 (A Study on the Characteristics of Output Vocabulary in Essays Written by Korean Native Japanese Learners and Native Japanese Speakers)

초록

본 연구는 한국어를 모어로 하는 일본어 학습자와 일본어 모어화자의 에세이 작문에 나타난 어휘 사용 패턴을 비교 분석하였다. I-JAS 데이터베이스 중 한국인 95명, 일본인 48명이 작성한 에세이 작문을 대상으로 삼았다. jReadability 분석을 통한 문장 난이도를 비교하고 텍스트 마이닝 분석으로 명사, 동사, 형용사의 출현 빈도순 어휘와 그 특징을 살펴보았다. jReadability 분석 결과, 일본어 모어화자의 에세이에서는 형태소 수와 총 문자 수, 문장 당 평균 단어 수가 더 많이 나타났지만 난이도의 관점에서는 큰 차이가 나지 않았다. 특히 중급 후반의 레벨에 도달한 학습자는 모어 화자의 문장 난이도와 유사한 결과를 보여주었으며 따라서 학습자들이 에세이 작문을 향상시키고자 한다면 중급 후반 레벨을 선행 목표로 설정하는 것이 중요함을 시사한다. 그리고, 텍스트마이닝 분석 결과로 학습자는 ‘사는 것’과 ‘먹는 것’을 같은 선상에서 작문을 하였다는 점과 식생활에 드는 시간과 그 빠르기를 나타내는 표현을 많이 쓰고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 한편, 모어화자는 자신의 의견을 표출하는 데 “考える(생각하다)”를 다용하였으며 “~ていく(해 가다)”의 표현을 사용하여 시간의 흐름에 따라 변화해 가는 과정을 설명한 표현이 많았다는 점이 학습자와 다르게 나타났다.
본 연구는 한국어를 모어로 하는 일본어 학습자와 일본어 모어 화자간의 어휘 사용의 유사성과 차이점을 밝혔다. 일본어 학습자가 높은 작문 능력을 개발하기 위해서는 중급 후반의 레벨에 도달하는 것을 선행 목표로 교육하는 것이 중요하다. 또한 어휘 선택에 있어서 두 그룹 간의 차이를 이해하고 이를 토대로 학습자에게 더 효과적인 교육 방법을 제공할 수 있다.

영어초록

The primary objective of this research is to conduct a comparative analysis of lexical usage patterns within the context of essay writing, with a focus on distinguishing between Korean learners of Japanese language and native Japanese speakers.
To achieve this goal, a selection of essays authored by 95 Korean learners and 48 native Japanese speakers, all retrieved from the I-JAS database, were utilized as the primary dataset. The study employed jReadability analysis to assess sentence complexity and conducted a comprehensive examination of noun, verb, and adjective usage patterns via frequency-based text mining analysis.
The results obtained from the jReadability analysis revealed that essays written by native Japanese speakers exhibited a higher frequency of morphemes, total character count, and average words per sentence, although there were no substantial disparities in terms of textual complexity. Notably, learners who had achieved a higher intermediate proficiency level demonstrated comparable sentence difficulty levels to those of native speakers, underscoring the significance of aiming for a higher intermediate stage to enhance essay writing skills. The results of the text mining analysis show that the learner writes along the same lines of ‘living‘ and ‘eating‘ and uses many expressions to indicate the time it takes to eat and the speed of eating. On the other hand, the native speakers differed from the learners in that they used "kangaeru (think)" to express their opinions and used the expression "-te iku" to describe the process of changing over time.
This study illuminates both the parallels and distinctions in vocabulary utilization between Korean learners of Japanese language and native Japanese speakers. It underscores the importance of guiding Japanese learners towards achieving proficiency of higher intermediate level to cultivate advanced writing skills. Furthermore, by comprehending the disparities in vocabulary selection between these two groups, educators can develop more efficacious teaching methodologies for learners.
