경남 방언 친족어 연구 ― 산청(山淸) 지역어 호칭어를 중심으로 ― (The Kinship Terms Used in Gyeongnam Regional Dialect ― With a Special Reference to Terms of Address at Sancheong Sub-regional Dialect ―)

초록

이 글은 경남 산청 지역어 호칭어를 검토함으로써 경남 방언 친족어 체계의 일부를 이해하기 위해 작성된 것이다. 화자는 (1)부계 남자일 때, (2)부계 여자일 때, (3)시집온 여자일 때와 같은 세 가지 경우로 나누어 살펴보았는데, 화자가 (1)일 때는 논의의 대상이 부계 친족원, 모계 친족원, 처계 친족원이 되고, 화자가 (2)일 때는 부계 및 모계 친족원이 되며, 화자가 (3)일 때는 남편의 부계 및 모계 친족원이 된다.친족어 논의를 위한 친족원 범위는 다음과 같다. 부계 친족원의 경우는, 직계는 존속 3대 위에서부터 비속 3대 아래까지이고, 방계는 4촌이다. 모계 친족원의 경우는, 직계는 존속 2대 위에서부터 화자와 같은 세대까지이고, 방계는 4촌이다. 처계 친족원의 경우는, 직계는 존속 2대 위에서부터 화자와 같은 세대까지이고, 방계는 3촌이다.각 친족원의 가계도는 <그림-1>～<그림-4>로 제시되어 있고, 주요 논의의 대상이 되는 친족원의 호칭어는 <표-1>～<표-15>로 정리되어 있다. 이 지역어의 고유어계 중요 호칭어로는 ‘할아부지, 할무, 할배, 할매, 아부지, 어머, 아재, 아지반님, 아지뱀, 아지매’ 등이 있다는 점을 지적하고, ‘징조(曾祖)-, 종조(宗祖)-, 할-, 큰-/작은-, 고무(姑母)-, 이모(姨母)-, 에/이(外)-, 택호’ 등이 접두 요소가 되어 새로운 친족 호칭어를 생성해 낸다는 점을 지적했다.각 친족어의 어종별(語種別) 특징을 한마디로 말하기는 어렵지만, 부계 친족원에 대한 것일수록 고유어가 쓰이는 경우가 많고, 모계 친족원, 처계 친족원으로 갈수록 한자어가 쓰이는 경향이 높다고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

The present paper has been written in order to understand a partial outline of kinship terms system of Gyeongnam regional dialect by investigating terms of address currently used at Sancheong sub-regional dialect.
The author investigated three kinds of speakers; that is (1) a male speaker of his agnate, (2) a female speaker of her agnate, and (3) a female speaker married to a man in this region. If the case is (1), the subjects and terms in question contain members of his agnate, his cognate and his wife's family, the case (2), they contain members of her agnate and cognate, the case (3), they contain members of an agnate and a cognate of her husband.
The scope of kinship for my discussion of kinship terms is as follows: For an agnate case, a lineal relative is restricted to the highest limit of the third generation of upside and the lowest limit of the third generation of downside, and a collateral relative is restricted to the fourth degree of kinship. For the case of a cognate, a lineal relative is restricted to the highest limit of the second generation of upside and the lowest limit of the same generation of the speaker, and a collateral relative is restricted to the fourth degree of kinship. For the case of one's wife's family, a lineal relative is restricted to the highest limit of the second generation of upside and the lowest limit of the same generation of the speaker, and a collateral relative is restricted to the third degree of kinship.
The genealogical tree for subject members of each relative is presented as <figure-1>～<figure-4> and the terms of address of a relative, which is the main subject of the present discussion, are classified into <table 1>～<table 15>. The author can't clearly say the characteristics of each kinship terms in a simple word. Yet its general outline is summarized as follows: There is a general tendency that for the case of an agnate, the native Korean terminologies are widely used, but as we get closer to the case of a cognate and one's wife's family, we frequently witness that Sino-Korean words are more and more used.
