淸朝의 基督敎制限政策과 太平天園 (Ch꺼stianity Restriction Policy of Qing Dynasty and Taipingtianguo)

초록

본 논문은 아편전쟁 이후부터 북경조약의 체결까지 청조의 기독교 정책의특정올 살며보고, 태명천국과 기독교 제한정책과의 관련에 대해 고찰하였다.
아편전쟁 이후 청조의 기독교 정책은 북경조약의 체결올 전후로 그 시기별로 정책적 차이가 나타나고 있지만, 큰 틀에서는 ‘금지하지 않는 금지 정책’ 올 실시했다고 볼 수 있다. 청조는 비록 아면전쟁 이후 불명둥초약으로 서양과의 관계가 변화했지만, 여전히 기독교를 중국 전통체제의 질서 안에서 유지하고자 했다. 단지 국내적 · 국제적 환경의 변화에 따라 지독교 정책은 외형적인 변화만 있었을 뿐이었다. 서양 각국과 체결한 초약과 道光帝의 뼈禁 上論에 의거한 기독교 정책은 아무래도 제한적일 수밖에 없었다. 이러한 청조의 기독교 제한의 구체적인 요인은 선교사와 교회의 근본적인 변화와 태명천국운통 때문이었다. 특히 기독교에 영향올 받은 태명천국이 중국 남부지방올 휩쓸며 청조의 체제룹 위협하고 있었던 상황이었기 때문에 청조는더욱 선교사와 천주쿄 쿄민들올 잠재적 반청세력으로 인식했으며, 사회질서를 깨트리는 심각한 세력으로 보았다. 따라서 이러한 시기에 120여 년간 禁 敎아래 있었던 기독교는 청초에 의해 공식적으로 신앙의 허가를 받았지만, 청초 입장에서는 체제의 위협이 되는 종교이기 때문에 더욱 드러내지 않는 금교 정책올 시행하게 되었다.

영어초록

The current sn1dy examined characteristics of Christianity related policies of the Qing Dynasty from the Opium War to the Beijing Teaty, and relationships between Taipingtianguo 뻐d Christianity restriction policy. Although Christianity p이icies of the Qing Dynasty after the Opium War presented differences between before and after the Beijing Teaty, it is deemed that ’prohibition policy that does not actually prohibit' was implemented in large. This policy implies that the Qing Dynasty wanted to maintain Christianity within the orders of Chinese traditional system even though relationships with the west had changed due to the unequal treaty after the Opium War. Christianity policies went through external changes on ly according to changes in domestic and international environment. Christianity policies based on release of Christianity by Emperor Dao-guang who concluded treaties with many nations in the world were limited. A concrete reason of Christianity restriction during the Qing Dynasty was fundamental changes in missionary workers and churches, and Taipingtianguo movement.
The great powers’ expansion to China not only enhanced status of foreigner missionary workers, but also changes status of Chinese believers to some extent, that is, into a privileged class. In the position of the Qing Dynasty, western nations were aggressor nations and missionary work of western missionary workers who infiltrated China illega”y was also a big threat to the reign of the Qing Dynasty. And the Qiog Dynasty regarded Catholics as serious potential anti-Qing power that broke social orders. During this time, externally, restrain ing attitude toward western the great powers was popular because of treaties with the great powers and opening of five ports due to the Opium War, while internally Taipingtianguo that was influenced by Christianity was threatening the rule of the Qing Dynasty sweeping the southern China. Meanwhile, although Christianity that bad been under prohibition of Christia미ty for about 120 years finally got o에cial permission of religion from the Qing Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty implemented Prohibition of Christianity policy even more secretly because Christianity was an external religion that threatened its regime
