초록

Objective: We measured dentists' recognition and support of the Senior Long-term Care Insurance (SLCI) System. Survey targets were dentists in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi-do.
Methods: Surveys were conducted, of 207 dentists for four months from January, 2009. Data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 for frequency analysis, cross tabulation, MANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient.
Results: Many (44.0%) of the respondents knew the name of the LSCI system, but only 3.9% of respondents knew details of the LSCI system. Some (15.9%) respondents that Long-Term Care Committee Grading was not included. Dental hygienists during a home visit needed to know dentist's instructions for 35.3% of respondents. Grading of the Long-Term Care Committee and options, including the dentist, should be included according to most (89.9%) respondents.
Conclusions: The dentist's perception of the elderly in the long-term care insurance system remains low. But overall, the SLCI system had a positive approval rating. Those responsible for oral health care that require full consideration of the dentist and a real SLCI system for the elderly.
