청 궁정의 양국도(洋菊圖)와 조선말기 회화 (The Western Chrysanthemum Paintings of the Qing Court and Paintings of the Late Chosun Dynasty)

초록

이 논문은 건륭제의 주도로 제작된 청 궁정 양국도의 양상과 의미, 조선말기 화단에 끼친 영향을 살펴본것이다. 건륭제는 1756년에 추일계(鄒一桂)에게 양국도(洋菊圖)를 그리고 「양국보(洋菊譜)」를 만들게한 것을 시작으로 1758년에 어제시 44수를 짓고 궁정화가들에게 양국도를 그리게 했다. 이는 건륭제의서양문화에 대한 관심과 제국 통치를 위한 박물학적인 태도에서 비롯된 것으로 여겨진다. 그는 양국의형태적인 특징을 파악하는 데 그치지 않고 완상의 대상으로 향유하고 시화(詩畵)로 제작하는 일련의 문화적 행위를 통해 한족 문화의 계승자로서의 면모를 드러냈다.
추일계, 낭세녕(郞世寧), 전유성(錢維城), 왕승패(汪承霈), 이병덕(李秉德), 홍오(弘旿), 관괴(關槐)는건륭제의 취향에 부합하는 양국도를 제작하여 청대 국화도 전개에 큰 변화를 일으켰다. 이들은 전통화법과 입체적인 음영법을 두루 사용하여 형사(形似)에 충실하면서도 담아(淡雅)한 정취를 추구했으며, 관괴는 대상의 운치를 중시하는 사의적(寫意的)인 면모가 두드러졌다.
전통적인 국화도가 측면이나 부감시점으로 그려지던 것에 비해 건륭연간의 양국도는 화심(花心)과꽃잎이 활짝 벌어진 정면 표현이 많아졌으며, 긴 통형(筒形) 화판(花瓣) 끝에 숟가락 모양의 꽃잎이 있는만점홍(滿點紅), 연지대(臙脂帶) 같은 품종이 애호되었다. 이는 19세기에 측면 위주의 다소 형식화된 표현으로 자리 잡아 조선말기 화단에 영향을 끼쳤는데 남계우(南啓宇), 장승업(張承業), 청화백자의 문양, 민화에 이어 근대화단의 이경승(李絅承)과 김용진(金容鎭)으로 이어졌다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to look into the tendency and meaning of the western chrysanthemum paintings led by emperor Qianlong and its influence on the painters in the late Chosun Dynasty.
In 1756, the emperor Qianlong had Zou Yigui(鄒一桂) make paintings of western chrysanthemum and publish Catalogue of Werstern Chrysanthemums(洋菊譜), and starting from this, in 1758, he himself composed 44 poems on the western chrysanthemum and made court painters paint them.
This is regarded as the emperor’s interest in the western culture and his naturalistic attitude to govern his emperor. His interest did not stop at identifying the characteristics of the flower’s shape, but had the flower as the object of appreciation, and created the poems and paintings as a part of the cultural activities, presenting himself as a successor of the Chinese literati culture.
Painters like Zou Yigui, Qian Weicheng(錢維城), Giuseppe Castiglione(郞世寧), Wang Chengpei(汪承霈), Li Bingde(李秉德), Hong Wu(弘旿), and Guan Huai(關槐) created paintings of western chrysanthemum which suit the emperor’s taste and changed the trend of the paintings of the flower. The painters used the shape and shadow painting method and the traditional painting method while keeping the realistic shape of the object and clear and neat atmosphere. Guan Huai emphasized the spiritual expression focusing on classical grace and dignity.
While the classical chrysanthemum paintings were painted from the side or high angle, but the western chrysanthemum paintings of emperor Qianlong’s era were painted focusing on the center of the flower. In addition, the species such as Mandianhong(滿點紅) and Yanzhidai(臙脂帶) which had tubiform petals were preferred. This trend has established as a structured form in the 19th century and influenced painters of the late Chosun Dynasty such as Nam Gyewoo(南啓宇), Jang Seungeop(張 承業), the pattern of Cheonghwa Baekja, Korean folk art, and continued its influence on modern painters like Lee Gyeongseung(李絅承) and Kim Yongjin(金容鎭).
