村上春樹は、ポストメモリー第１世代の作家として、デビュー以来、日本の歴史を次世代に伝える作業を着実に続けてきた。春樹は直接戦争を経験したわけではないが、中国戦 線に出兵した父の記憶を内面化し、それを追体験し、次世代に伝えることを作家としての責務 と考えてきた。戦争という説明のつかない強大な暴力行為について彼は想像力を最大限に働 かせ、他者の苦しみを体験し、それを共有するために文章によって表面化させる作業を行って いる。 1982年に発表された『羊をめぐる冒険』で彼は、特異な羊を題材に、北海道と日本の 近代化を取り巻くさまざまな記憶に注目しながら、公式的には扱われることのない個人の苦しみ とその記憶の断片を丁寧に探究した。彼はアイヌ民族の苦難の歴史や、近代日本の戦争に よって犠牲になった多くの人々の苦しみを想起させながら、個々の記憶が忘却され、歴史が 風化することのないよう、絶えず反芻しそれを刻み付けることを繰り返している。 2025年、戦後80年を迎える時点で、戦争に参加した世代がほとんど存在しない「体験 者消滅」の時代が迫っている。春樹は、記憶が徐々に忘れ去られ消滅していく現時点にお いて、作品やインタビューを通じて日本の近代化と戦争の暴力を告発し、問題意識を拡大さ せている。この困難な作業を通じて、私たちは記憶の彼方に消えていく歴史的事実を目の当 たりにしながら、その意味を再確認し、他者の苦しみに反応し、戦争の不条理を認識すること になる。 作品に登場する特別な「羊」は個人の成長と共同体の繁栄を阻むさまざまな障害物であ り、社会の不条理や腐敗、権威主義的国家機関などを象徴する巨大な「壁」であり、そ れをテキストから追い出す「僕」と「鼠」は日常を生きながら正義を追求する個人、いわゆる 「卵」を象徴している。21世紀にも依然として繰り返されている戦争の脅威と歴史意識の希 薄化の中で、春樹は戦争の記憶をどのように後世に伝えるか、彼らの苦しみと喪失をどのよう に記録するか、忘却と歪曲に抵抗しながら、想起のメカニズムを絶えず作動させている。

영어초록

As a writer of the first generation of post-memory, Haruki Murakami has been working steadily since his debut to deliver Japanese history to the next generation. Although he did not experience the war firsthand, he considered it a writer's responsibility to internalize his father's memories on the Chinese front, re-enact them, and pass them on to the next generation. He uses his imagination about the inexplicable and enormous violent act of war to bring it to the surface in writing so that readers could experience the shared pain.
In his book A Wild Sheep Chase published in 1982, he carefully examined the suffering of individuals and fragments of their images that were not covered in the official narrative, paying attention to the various memories surrounding the modernization of Hokkaido and Japan. In it, he recalls the narrative of the suffering of the Ainu people and the suffering of many victims of the war in modern Japan, and repeats these so that individual memories are not forgotten or weathered.
In 2025, which marks the 80th anniversary of the war, the era of 'Experience Extinction' is not far away to come, with few war participation-oriented generations. Haruki is expanding the problem awareness by accusing Japan of violence in modernity and war through works and interviews at a time when memories are gradually forgotten and extinguishing. Through this most difficult work, we reaffirm the historical facts that are disappearing to the other side of memory before our eyes, reflecting on the meaning, responding to the pain of others, and realizing the absurdity of war.
The special 'sheep' in the work are various obstacles to the growth of individuals and the prosperity of the community, the enormous 'wall' symbolizing social irrationality, corruption, and hegemonic state institutions, and the 'I' and 'Nezumi' that expel them from the text represent individuals seeking justice in ordinary daily life. Amid the recurring threats of war and the weakening of historical consciousness in the 21st century, Haruki is constantly working the mechanisms of recalling on how to deliver memories of war to future generations, to record their suffering and loss, and to resist oblivion and distortion.
