한국성결교회의 위기 극복을 위한 웨슬리안 사중복음 연구 (Wesleyan Fourfold Gospel Study for Overcoming the Crisis of the Korean Holiness Church)

초록

본 연구는 최근 목회데이터연구소가 지적한 한국 교회의 다섯 핵심 사역 분야, 즉 예배, 교육, 친교, 봉사, 선교 분야가 심각한 위기에 처해 있음을 주목한다. 그리고 현재 이러한 위기를 공유하고 있는 한국성결교회가 신학적으로나 목회적인 차원에서 실천적으로 대응할 수 있는 전략을 강구하는 것에 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 필자는 먼저 한국성결교회의 신학 전통인 18세기 웨슬리 신학과 19세기 성결운동이 강조한 중생, 성결, 신유, 재림의 사중복음을 간략히 정리하고, 이 둘을 상호 보완적으로 통합한 한국성결교회의 웨슬리안 사중복음 모델을 제안한다. 이 제안된 모델은 단지 신학적 기틀을 쌓기 위한 것이 아니다. 그것은 오히려 실제 목회 현장에서, 그리고 신앙 공동체 안의 삶 속에서 적용 가능한 지침이 될 수 있도록 구성하는 데 목적이 있다. 따라서 필자는 다섯 핵심 사역 분야에 대하여 다음과 같은 구체적, 실천적 전략을 제시한다. 첫째, 예배의 분야에서는 영적으로 살아 숨쉬는 신앙적 체험의 회복이 필요하다. 이를 위해 필자는 성례전(특히, 세례)을 실천적으로 재해석하고, 더 나아가 예배자들로 하여금 중생의 감격을 교회의 예배와 일상 속에서 재차 경험할 수 있도록 돕는 예배 혁신 방안을 제시한다. 둘째, 교육의 분야에서는 가정 안에서의 경건 훈련 회복이 중요하다. 이를 위해 필자는 신자의 전 생애를 아우르는 교육 체계의 마련을 강조하고, 나아가 각 생애 주기에 맞춘 성결의 삶을 현대적 속회 개념으로의 가정에서부터 교회 안으로 이어가는 방안을 제시한다. 셋째, 친교의 분야에서는 한국성결교회의 신유 복음에 근거한 공동체 사역의 회복이 필요하다. 이를 위해 필자는 소그룹 단위의 교회 내 공동체가 단순한 친교 모임으로 그치지 않고 치유 사역에 근간한 돌봄과 공감, 그리고 신유를 강구하는 기도 사역 공동체로서 거듭나야 할 방안을 제안한다. 넷째, 봉사의 분야에서는 봉사란 개념에 관한 근본적인 재고가 요청된다. 봉사는 일회적 차원의 자비량 사역이 아니다. 그것은 성결한 삶을 실천적 사랑의 언어로 구현하는 사역이다. 따라서 필자는 교회 내 봉사 활동을 성결의 일환으로 재교육하고, 나아가 세대별 수준과 영적 필요에 맞춘 봉사 사역의 개발 및 구체적 실천 방안을 제안한다. 다섯째, 선교의 분야에서는 선교의 동력을 상실한 한국성결교회에 재림 복음을 통한 새 동력, 새 활력을 불어넣는 것이 중요하다. 이에 필자는 재림의 복음이 지닌 종말론적 기대를 교육하는 프로그램의 활성화를 제시하고, 나아가 재림의 복음을 매일의 삶 속에서 살아가는 종말론적 삶의 훈련과 사명 의식 재-고취를 위한 실천 방안으로 제시한다. 이상의 다섯 가지 실천적 논의와 구체적 제안을 바탕으로 필자는 한국성결교회가 직면한 위기를 보다 실제적이고 엄밀하게 분석하고자 한다. 그리고 그에 합당한 실천 방안 및 전략을 제안함으로써 한국성결교회가 처해 있는 다섯 핵심 사역 분야의 위기를 극복할 신학적, 실천적 담론을 제시함과 동시에, 한국 교회 전반에 퍼져 있는 목회적 위기 의식과 암담한 미래 전망에 새로운 소망을 불어넣고자 한다.

영어초록

This study focuses on the fact that the five core ministry areas of the Korean church, namely worship, education, fellowship, service, and mission, are in serious crisis—as recently pointed out by the Ministry Data Institute. The purpose of this study is to devise a practical strategy for the Korean Holiness Church, which is currently sharing this crisis, to respond theologically and pastorally. To this end, the author first briefly summarizes the fourfold gospel of regeneration, sanctification, divine healing, and second coming emphasized by the 18th-century Wesleyan theology and the 19th-century holiness movement, which are the theological traditions of the Korean Holiness Church, and proposes a Wesleyan fourfold gospel model of the Korean Holiness Church that integrates these two in a complementary manner. This proposed model is not just for laying a theological foundation. Rather, it is intended to be a guideline that can be applied in actual pastoral settings and in the lives of faith communities. Therefore, the author proposes the following specific, practical strategies for the five core ministry areas. First, in the area of ​​worship, the recovery of spiritually living religious experiences is necessary. To this end, the author proposes a practical reinterpretation of the sacraments (especially baptism) and, furthermore, a plan for worship innovation that helps worshippers experience the thrill of regeneration in church worship and daily life. Second, in the field of education, the restoration of piety training in the home is important. To this end, the author emphasizes the establishment of an education system that encompasses the entire life of believers, and further suggests a plan to connect the life of holiness in each life cycle from the home to the church in the concept of a modern class meeting. Third, in the field of fellowship, the restoration of the community ministry based on the gospel of divine healing is necessary. To this end, the author proposes a plan for the community within the church, in small groups, to be reborn as a community of prayer ministry that seeks care and empathy based on healing ministry, rather than simply a fellowship meeting. Fourth, in the field of service, a fundamental rethinking of the concept of service is required. Service is not a one-time ministry of mercy. It is a ministry that implements a holy life in the language of practical love. Therefore, the author proposes re-education of service activities within the church as part of holiness, and further develops and implements service ministries tailored to the level and spiritual needs of each generation. Fifth, in the field of missions, it is important to inject new power and vitality into the Korean Holiness Church, which has lost its missionary drive, through the gospel of the second coming. Accordingly, the author proposes the activation of the second coming gospel education program and, furthermore, presents practical measures to train people to practice the second coming gospel in their daily lives and live an eschatological life that revives their sense of mission. Based on the above five practical discussions and specific proposals, the author intends to analyze the crisis facing the Korean Holiness Church more realistically and strictly. And by proposing appropriate practical measures and strategies, the author proposes theological and practical discourses to overcome the crisis in the five core ministry areas of the Korean Holiness Church, while at the same time infusing new hope into the sense of pastoral crisis and bleak future outlook that is spreading throughout the Korean church.
