초록

A grisette is a young female worker who, after the Industrial Revolution, came to the city to work because she was from a poor background and had no money. She had relative elegance and was employed in places like clothing and jewelry stores, where "the eye was drawn to the seller rather than the product." The grisette can thus be seen as the first modern female worker who brought her domestic "work" outside the home and was paid according to social rules. She is also a subject who rebelled against laws and customs, and is distinguished from lorette, who, in her relationships with her lovers, exchanged money for sexual favors as a rule, in other words, 'answered her own needs'.
Grisette illustrates class struggle through the "acquisition of social and economic independence," explains the "evolution" of how the female working class differentiated and developed in the 18th and 19th centuries, and at the same time reveals a society that has yet to shed its "pre-modern" appearance. In conclusion, grisette imagines a metaphysics of subjectivity, a questioning of the absolutes of the past, a break with what society and history have long imposed, and for this reason she can be defined as the first female worker in the modern sense.
