초록

<Bongjakcheop>, published in Taejo 7th-year in early
Chosun (1398) to appoint the late Lee Hwa-sang’s wife Lee to
Soogin (Jung 3rd Poom), is the first appointing document extant
from early Chosun. This <Bongjakcheop> was drawn up under
the system of Dopyeongeuisasa institutionalized from Taejo
through Jungjong 2nd-year. It turned out that document
administration of issuance for Bongjak (Grace with a title) by
Eeejo then, involved Eeejo’s officials and Joongchuwon’s
Doseungji as Jeeijosa and Moonhabu’s Jwajungseung as judge.
<Bongjakcheop> is also important because it has the
hereditary institutions from Goryeo in the respect of document
form. The basics of Chosun’s document form is
[Gyeonggukdaejun] but previously it was chiefly affected by
Ming’s [Hongmu rule of funeral], according to an established
theory. And this document is the one before the effect of
[Hongmu rule of funeral], still holding Goryeo’s hereditary
institutions. It is evident from the fact of using the letter Cheop
following after the writing period of a document or listing up
officials issuing the document from lower-rank personnel right
to upper-rank left, according to rank, in an array.
To sum up, <Bongjakcheop> is a very important document in
Korean document history in three respects; the earliest
appointing document in early Chosun that is extant, one drawn
up while under Dopyoengeuisasa system in early Chosun that
shows the management of central administration then, and a
style holding Goryeo’s hereditary institutions before being
affected by Ming’s [Hongmu rule of funeral].
