대학 글쓰기로서의 자기소개서 쓰기 방법 연구 - 가천대학교 2012학년도 2학기 이공계 글쓰기 수업 사례를 중심으로 (A Study on Writing Method for Self-Introduction as College Writing Education － the Case of a Second-term Writing Course for 2012 in Gachon University)

초록

이 논문은 대학에서의 효과적인 자기소개서 쓰기 수업방안을 모색하기 위하여 기획되었다. 그동안 대학글쓰기로서의 자기소개서에 대한 연구는 실용적 글쓰기를 목적으로 한 연구와 자기 성찰의 글쓰기를 목적으로 한 연구로 양분화 되어왔다. 이 양분화된 방향을 연계하여 보다 효과적인 글쓰기 방법을 모색하고자 한 시도가 있었지만 수업에 적용할 수 있는 구체적 방안으로까지 제시되지는 못했다. 본 연구는 그 구체적 방안을 제시하고자 가천대학교 2012학년도 2학기 이공계 글쓰기 수업에서 수행한 글쓰기 활동을 근간으로 자기실현을 위한 글쓰기와 실용적 자기소개서 쓰기를 연결하는 단계별 글쓰기를 제안하였다.
2012학년도 2학기 이공계 글쓰기 수업에서 중간고사 이후인 9주차부터 14주차에 걸쳐서 강의와 실습, 개인별 피드백 등으로 이루어진 수업은 자기소개서 쓰기를 위한 준비와 자기 탐색, 자기실현을 위한 글쓰기 단계별 접근을 통해 이루어졌다. 이 과정에서 나타난 학생들의 태도와 반응, 직접 쓰기를 수행할 때 겪는 다양한 장애를 살펴보았다. 이러한 수업 현장사례를 근거로 대학 글쓰기로서 수행할 수 있는 효과적인 자기소개서 쓰기 단계별 방안을 고안해낼 수 있었다. 1단계: 자기실현을 위한 탐색 단계 → 2단계: 자기실현을 위한 과거와 현재에 대한 의미화 단계 → 3단계: 자기실현을 위한 글쓰기 단계 → 4단계: 입사 구직을 목표로 한 실용적 자기소개서 쓰기 단계가 바로 그것이다.
자기실현을 위한 탐색과 실용적 자기소개서 작성은 연계되어 수행되어야 할 대학글쓰기의 지향점이자 학생들의 절실한 요청이다. 본 논문은 대학 글쓰기 교육 현장의 현실적 요청과 이상적 지향을 연계하는 방법론을 모색하고자 했다는데 의의를 지니며 후속 논의를 통해 단계별 쓰기 과정을 통해 실행된 쓰기 사례와 교육적 효과를 입증해 보기로 하겠다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to examine effective ways of providing college writing instruction on self-introduction. Meanwhile, there have been largely two different kinds of studies on writing for self-introduction as college writing education. One focuses on practical writing of self-introduction that is called a cover letter, and the other centers around writing for self-reflection. Several researchers have attempted to seek more effective writing methods by linking the two different approaches, but they actually have failed to suggest how to integrate the two in class in detail. This study attempted to seek actual ways of linking writing for self-realization and writing for a practical purpose, and sequential writing was suggested in relation to the second-term writing course for 2012 in the college of natural sciences and engineering in Gachon University.
A writing course that consisted of lectures, practice and individual feedback was offered from the ninth week to the fourteenth week of the second semester of 2012 in the college of natural sciences and engineering after the midterm examinations were over. A sequential approach was taken in that course: preparations for written self-introduction, self-exploration and self-realization. How the students who took this course responded and what difficulties they faced in writing were analyzed, and then an effective sequential writing method for self-introduction as college writing education was devised based on the case study. The first was a stage of exploration that could lead to self-realization, and the second stage was to find a meaning in the past and the present. The third was a stage of writing for self-realization, and the fourth was a stage of writing a cover letter that aimed at job application.
Profound exploration for self-realization and the preparation of an excellent cover letter are the ultimate goals of college writing education that should be attained together, and they are what students definitely ask for. This study is of significance in that it tried to look into how to satisfy the practical needs of students for college writing education and attain the ideals of that education at the same time. There will be follow-up discussions to prove the educational effects of the sequential writing education case.
