외국인 유학생의 글쓰기 윤리 실천을 위한 학문 목적쓰기 지도 방안- 자료 사용을 중심으로 - (KAP writing Teaching plan for the Practice of Writing Ethics)

초록

학문 목적 쓰기는 선행 연구에 대한 이해와 반영, 즉 넓은 의미에서의자료 사용을 전제로 하는 글쓰기이다. 그런데 자료의 부적절한 사용은곧 글쓰기 윤리의 위반으로 이어지기 쉽고 이것은 학문 목적 쓰기 능력의 신장이라는 본래의 목적을 달성하는 데에 부정적인 영향을 미친다.
특히 외국인 유학생들의 경우는 자료 사용에 대한 다양한 시행착오들이나타나는데 이것은 쓰기 발달 과정에서 체계적인 자료 사용 교육을 바탕으로 극복되어 간다. 이러한 배경에서 이 글은 학문 목적 쓰기에서 글쓰기 윤리 실천을 위한 자료 사용의 지도 방안이 마련되어야 한다는 입장에서 논의를 전개하였다. 그리고 자료 사용 교육은 크게 ‘자료의 선별’,‘자료의 출처 표시’, ‘자료 내용의 구분 및 통합’에 관련된 내용을 중심으로 이루어져야 함을 제안하였다.
먼저, 자료의 선별 교육에서는 학문 목적 쓰기에 있어서 ‘자료 사용의가치’를 이해하고 ‘공신력 있는 자료에 대한 인식’을 갖게 한 후 ‘학술자료를 검색하는 연습’을 실시하고 자신의 글에 적절한 ‘자료 선택’을 하는과정까지를 망라한다.
다음으로 자료의 출처 표시 교육에서는 ‘출처 표시의 필요성’을 알려준 후 출처 표시의 대표적인 방법인 ‘참고 자료 목록’과 ‘본문 각주(내각주/외각주)’의 기능을 구분하여 이해하도록 한다. 그리고 각각의 방법을실습할 기회를 충분히 제공하면서 외국인 유학생이 자주 혼동하는 사례를 교육 자료로 활용한다.
끝으로 자료 내용의 구분 및 반영 교육에서는 자료의 내용만을 그대로 빌려오는 경우, 그리고 자료의 내용을 옮겨오면서 자신의 의견과 통합하는 경우로 구분하여 제시한다. 이 때 하나의 문장 안에서, 자료의 내용과 자신이 쓴 부분이 명확히 구분되면서도, 자연스럽게 연결되도록 하는 데에 초점을 두도록 한다.
이상의 자료 사용 지도 방안은 교육 현장에서 글쓰기의 과정에 맞게순차적으로 혹은 순환적으로 활용될 수 있다. 향후에는 각 교육 단계별로 나타나는, 더욱 다양한 자료 사용의 사례를 수집하고 분석함으로써그것을 교수 설계에 다시 적용하는 작업이 이루어져야 할 것이다. 이 글은 학문 목적 쓰기에서 글쓰기 윤리의 문제를 추상적이고 부정적으로 간주하는 것이 아니라, 교육적인 관점에서 구체적이고 긍정적으로 보아야함을 부각시키고 하나의 실천 방안을 제시했다는 데에 의의가 있다.

영어초록

Academic writing is a type of writing that requires both an understanding and a reflection of its prior studies, in other words, makes necessary the use of sources on a wider spectrum. However, the improper usage of information can easily lead to the violation of writing ethics and this in turn, affects negatively on the achievement of the original objective which is the growth of academic writing abilities. Especially in the cases of foreign international students, a variety of trial-and-error is presented in source usage and this is overcome during the writing development process with a systematic education of source usage. With this underlying fact in the background, this study argues that a specific content and teaching plan must be provided concerning source use in order to execution writing ethics. Moreover, it asserted that source use education should be made centralized on largely 'source selection','citation(Source indication)' and 'the content integration'.
Firstly, source selection education comprises of the practice of 'researching academic information' and 'source selection' of information that is suitable for one's writing after an understanding of 'the value of source usage' and attainment of 'a recognition of source public confidence.
Next, in the education of citation or source indication, after the notification of the 'necessity to cite the source document', a separation or distinction of the function between the two main type of source indication which are the 'citations' and the 'footnotes and endnote within writing'. Then, provide a sufficient chance to practice each method and make use of the cases that the foreign international students frequently confuse as the educative material.
Lastly, in education of clear distinction and integration of content,cases can be divided into two cases: one of which is a case where the information from the source remain unaltered and the other a case of which the source information is integrated in with one's own opinion in the process of transposing. At this moment the focus should be placed on the natural connection of these two separate parts within a sentence so that a clear distinction can be made between the source document's information and one's own writing.
The content and the teaching plans about the source use education as posed above can be used either rotationally or consecutively according to the particular writing procedure used. In the future, through collection and analysis of variety of examples in information usage from each educational level, an attempt to reapply to educational content and construct a suitable solution should be made. This study does not consider the issue of writing ethics as an abstract or negative concept in the prospect of academic writing but as that of a meaningful one in a way that it emphasizes an educational perspective with the need to be examined from a concrete optimistic viewpoint and poses a measure of practice.
