초록

The purpose of this research is to suggest an intermediate to advanced level Korean writing syllabus tailored for native Japanese speakers by analyzing their composition errors from a Korean-Japanese contrastive linguistics perspective. Based on 5,295 selected compositions, 17% showed at least one type of writing error, from the most common to the least common, the error types consisted of inappropriate word selection, syntax error, incorrect conjunctive ending, incorrect tense, and incorrect sentence structure. The effect of the linguistic contrast was seen consistently throughout the error types. A syllabus customized to native Japanese students will best highlight the linguistic differences regarding the correct usage of postpositions, nouns, verbs, syntax, word endings, and sentence structure. For example, there are contrasts between the two languages regarding postpositions connecting‘preference, ability, possibility’. In terms of verb selection, linguistic differences, in expressing possibility, occurrence, travel, exchange and presence, should be highlighted focusing on elementary and versatile verbs. In syntax, the difference between Japanese and Korean vowels should be highlighted. In usage of correct conjunctive endings, differences in ways stopping, simultaneity, time difference, reason, cause, adversative conjunction, transference, and presumption are expressed should be featured. Lastly, regarding sentence structure, the syllabus should include practices aimed at eliminating sentence component redundancies.
