종묘대제용 면복의 십이장문 재현에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Reproduction of the twelve insignia patterns on the Korean Emperor’s Myeonbok)

초록

A study result on the twelve insignia patterns decorated on the Korean Emperor’s Myeonbok worn at the ritual of shrine ofroyal ancestors is reported in this paper. In the beginning of the Korean Empire period, a Sibijangbok which is a similar typewith those used by the Emperor of the Ming Dynasty in China was used. Since the Korean Emperor’s Myeonbok is not available,this research was conducted by using the Daehan Yejeon record, a photo of Emperor Sunjong who was wearing theSibijangbok, remaining of black robe of King's ceremonial attire, and several Chinese remaining and literatures. The shape ofblack robe was followed by the shape of remaining robe and its size was determined by the size of current imperialdescendants. The twelve insignia patterns for Myeonbok are described by painting and synthetic dye and pigments are used forthe materials of painting in order to protect the painting from damages caused by the weather. The painting on the black robedescribes sun, moon, stars, mountains, dragons, and pheasants. The painting on the red skirt describes goblets, pond weeds,flames, rice grains, axes, and bows. The patterns on red skirt were described by painting instead of embroidery because of limitedfund and time. Since patterns are described not only on robe and skirt but also on apron and inner robe among the componentsof Myeonbok, patterns of dragons and mountains different from the twelve insignia patterns are also described. Whenthe robe remaining are compared with the photo of Emperor Sunjong, the patterns may be different even though their namesare same. The styles in some patterns such as dragons, axes, and pheasants from Joseon dynasty and Korean Empire are founddifferent.
