대학생의 평가염려 완벽주의와 학업지연행동의 관계: 자기격려로 조절된 내면화된 수치심의 매개효과 (The Relationship of evaluative concerns perfectionism and academic procrastination: The Mediating Effect of internalized shame Moderated by Self-Encouragement)

초록

목적 본 연구는 대학생을 대상으로 내면화된 수치심이 평가염려 완벽주의와 학업지연행동 간의 관계를 매개하는지, 자기격려가 내면화된 수치심의 매개효과를 조절하는지 알아보기 위해 조절된 매개모형을 분석하였다.
방법 이를 위하여 G 지역에 소재한 4년제 종합대학교와 전문대학교에 재학 중인 남녀 475명(남:118명, 여:357명)을 대상으로평가염려 완벽주의, 내면화된 수치심, 학업지연행동, 자기격려를 측정하였다. Preacher, Rucker, 그리고 Hayes(2007)가 제안한절차대로 매개효과, 조절효과, 조절된 매개효과 모형을 순차적으로 분석하였다.
결과 첫째, 내면화된 수치심은 평가염려 완벽주의와 학업지연행동 간의 관계를 완전 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자기격려는평가염려 완벽주의와 내면화된 수치심 간의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 평가염려 완벽주의가 학업지연행동에 영향을미치는 경로에서 내면화된 수치심이 이를 매개하며, 평가염려 완벽주의와 내면화된 수치심 간의 관계가 자기격려에 의해 조절되는것으로 나타나 조절된 매개효과가 확인되었다.
결론 본 연구는 평가염려 완벽주의가 학업지연행동에 영향을 미치는 종합적인 경로의 검증을 통해 대학생의 학업지연행동에 대해통합적인 이해를 도모하였으며 학업지연행동을 낮추는 대처 전략으로써 자기격려의 역할을 확인하여 긍정적인 개입의 가능성을시사하였다. 이는 대학생의 진로 및 학업상담 장면에서 학업지연행동의 발생 경로를 이해하고 효과적으로 개입하는 데 중요한 경험적 토대가 될 것이다.

영어초록

Objectives This study was conducted to find out whether university students’ internalized shame mediates the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and academic procrastination, and whether self-encouragement moderates the mediating effect of internalized shame, the present study analyzed the moderated mediating model.
Methods To this end, a total of 475 male and female students (male: 118, female: 357) attending four-year universities and community colleges located in G Area were measured in terms of evaluative concerns perfectionism, internalized shame, academic procrastination, and self-encouragement. Also this study followed the procedures proposed by Preacher, Rucker, and Hayes (2007) to sequentially analyze mediation effects, moderation effects, and moderated mediation models.
Results First, internalized shame was shown to mediate the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and academic procrastination. Second, self-encouragement was shown to moderate the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and internalized shame. Third, the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and internalized shame was shown to be moderated by self-encouragement and thus the moderated mediating effect of self-encouragement was found.
Conclusions The present study promotes an integrated understanding of university students’ academic procrastination by verifying a comprehensive path where evaluative concerns perfectionism affects academic procrastination. Further, it presents implications for the possibility of positive intervention by identifying the role of self-encouragement as a coping strategy to reduce academic procrastination. This will serve as an important empirical basis to understand and provide effective intervention for the occurrence path of academic procrastination in the career and academic counseling process of university students.
