신용목 시 연구 -신서정과 연대 의식의 변화를 중심으로- (A Study on Shin Yong-Mok’s Poems-Focused on the Changes of New Lyrics and Solidarity.)

초록

이 논문에서는 신용목의 시 세계를 중심으로 신서정에 자리매김한 신용목 시에 나타난 공동체 양상을 연구하고자 한다. 연대 담론을 중점으로 농촌 공동체와 도시 공동체 속에 드러나는 주체와 대상 간의 관계성을 살펴본다. 이를 통해 직접적인 문제해결의 주체가 될 수는 없지만 연민, 염려와 같은 감정을 통해 공존하는 형태의 가능성을 제시한다. 신용목 시에 나타난 주체는 기존의 서정시와는 다른 양상으로 대상과의 비동일성인 관계로 불화한다. 하지만, 느슨한 연대로서의 조화하는 방식의 공동체 가능성을 지니고 있음을 밝혀보고자 한다.
이에 따라 본 연구에서 분석하는 내용은 다음과 같다. 2장에서는 시인의 초기 시에 남아 있는 농촌 공동체 양상에 드러나는 촘촘한 연대의 흔적을 살펴본다. 세대 계승의 형태에서 나타나는 가족공동체인 고향의 세대 연대 방식은 기성세대의 촘촘한 연대의 근간을 이루고 있음을 확인한다. 3장에서는 불온성이 도저한 도시 속에서 소급적으로 고향을 돌아보는 주체에 주목한다. 이어서 농촌의 모습과 도시의 경계성을 통해 과거의 방식이 아닌, 느슨한 연대의 방식으로 연결 고리의 양상이 변화되어 가는 지점을 발견한다. 4장에서는 촘촘한 연대에서 느슨한 연대로 공동체 양상이 변화된 도시 공동체의 모습을 모색한다. 도시라는 공동체에서 과거의 촘촘한 연결고리를 요구할 수는 없지만, 한 도시에 공존하는 공간 또는 연민과 감정의 공유로 느슨한 연결고리로 연대 될 수 있음을 언표화시킨다. 이로써 느슨한 연대는 공동체주의의 하나의 태도로, 이 시대의 사회 환경과 조건을 반영하여 대안적으로 실현된 공동체 삶의 형태라는 점을 상기할 필요가 있다.
신용목의 초기 시에는 공동체주의자로서의 면모와 흔적이 뚜렷하게 드러났지만, 중기로 넘어가면서 사회화 현상이 일어나며 도시 이야기가 등장하기 시작한다. 신용목은 이 두 세계를 모두 걸치고 있는 시인으로 가교 역할을 하며, 오늘날 새롭게 등장하는 많은 구성원의 형태 속 느슨한 연대 가능성에 대한 문학적 구현을 실현한 시인임을 명명하고자 한다. 이러한 규명은 신용목 시의 서정이 공동체적 연대를 상상하는 힘을 드러낸다는 점에서 의의를 가진다. 나아가 ‘연대 의식’이 신용목 특유의 서정성임을 밝히고자 한다.

영어초록

This paper is intended to study the community aspects implied in Shin Yong-mok’s poems positioned as a new lyric focusing on the poetic world of Shin Yong-mok. This paper explores the relationship between the subject and object revealed in the agricultural community and urban community centering on the discourse of solidarity and presents the possibility of coexisting based on such feelings as compassion and concern instead of being able to be the subject of directly solving problems. The subject in Shin’s poems takes on different aspects from existing lyric poetry and is in discord with the object due to non-identity. However, this study attempts to reveal the possibility of these communities harmonizing as loose solidarity.
This study thus seeks to explore the following aspects of communities. In Chapter 2, this study examines the traces of intimate solidarity shown in the agricultural community aspects remaining in Shin’s early poems. This chapter demonstrates that the generational solidarity mode of the hometown as a family community appearing at the form of generational succession underlies the intimate solidarity of the older generation. Chapter 3 puts focus on the subject which looks back retrospectively on the hometown in the city filled with disturbances. It finds the point where the aspects of connecting links change through the appearance of farming villages and borderline of cities in loose solidarity modes, rather than conventional ones. Chapter 4 seeks the appearance of urban communities where the community aspect changes from intimate into loose solidarity. While the past intimate connecting links are required in the urban community, it is implied that loose connecting links can become stronger by sharing the space or compassion and emotion coexisting in a city. Thus, it needs to be reminded that the loose solidarity is a kind of attitude toward communalism and form of community life realized alternatively by reflecting the social environment and conditions of the times.
While the appearance as a communalist and traces are clearly visible in Shin’s early poems, the socialization phenomenon occurs and stories of cities begin to appear in the middle period. This study concludes that Shin Yong-Mok is a poet who embraces these two worlds, acts as a bridge, and realizes the possibility of loose solidarity in a literary manner among many forms of members appearing these days. This identification is significant in that the lyricism of Shin Yong-mok reveals the power to imagine community solidarity. Furthermore, I would like to clarify that the ‘solidarity’ is the lyricism unique to Shin Yong-mok.
