이슬람 신의 단일성 : 기독교적 관점 (The concept of the simplicity of Islamic God)

초록

이슬람 신은 단일신이다. 본고에서는 신의 한 속성인 단일성의 개념을 고찰한다. 아비센나는 그의 신개념을 단일성 중심으로 전개한다. 신의 단일성을 신의 필연성, 인식, 의지, 창조개념과 관련하여 고찰한다. 아비센나에게 있어서 세계는 단일한 존재로부터 유출된 제일지성에서 존재와 본질의 이원성이 시작되는 곳으로부터 출발한다. 그는 단일한 신과 다수한 세계와의 관계를 유출론적 체계로 설명한다. 신은 단일한 필연존재로서 모든 사물의 궁극적 근거이다.
단일한 신은 본질과 존재가 동일하다. 동시에 신은 비물질적이고 영원하며 지성적인 필연존재이다. 이에 반해 제한된 존재는 존재에 본질이 더해져 구성된 물질적이고 제한적인 가능존재이다. 필연존재와 가능존재라는 구도로 신과 세계를 설명한다. 이것이 아비센나의 존재의 형이상학이다.
아비센나의 관점에서 단일한 신은 필연적이고, 단일한 인식을 통하여 창조하는 영원한 존재이다. 질료 또한 영원하다. 그러나 정통 이슬람 관점으로는 단일한 신은 자유로운 의지를 가진 전지전능한 존재인 반면, 아비센나에 의하면 단일한 신은 필연적인 존재이다. 필연존재인 신은 불변하며 비물질적인 순수존재이기 때문에 다수적이며 변화하는 일시적인 존재를 인식할 수도 없고, 직접 관계할 수도 없다. 신의 필연개념은 신의 자유의지를 강조하는 정통 이슬람의 신개념과 상반된다. 단일한 신 존재의 영원성, 전지성, 완전성에 대한 아비센나의 개념은 정통 이슬람과는 상당한 차이를 보인다. 완전성에 대한 다른 개념을 가지고 신개념을 전개하는 신인식 체계의 방식의 차이 때문이다.
본 논문은 아비센나의 신의 단일성 개념과 정통 이슬람 단일성 개념의 차이점을 규명하고자 한다. 특히 단일성을 초월과 내재라는 관점에서 조명한다. 신의 단일성은 신의 초월성과 내재성의 개념을 분석하는데 중요한 근거를 제공한다. 아비센나의 신개념에서는 내재성을 전혀 발견할 수 없다. 아비센나의 인식체계에서 신의 단일성에서 내재성을 함의하는 것은 오히려 신의 개념에 모순된다. 이러한 내재성의 결여는 수피즘이 사상적으로 대두할 수밖에 없는 요인이다. 단일한 신은 이미 자기 완전성을 지닌 존재이기에 인간과의 관계나 인격적인 관계를 개념상 필요로 하지 않는다. 단일한 신이라는 말은 신의 내재성의 부재를 함축하는 것이 개념상 당연하다. 그러나 신과의 관계를 갈망하는 무슬림은 신의 내재성을 요청한다. 유신론에서 인간은 신과의 관계를 추구하는 존재이기 때문이다. 이슬람 신론에서 신의 단일성이라는 신의 속성으로부터 기인하는 신의 내재성의 부재와 수피즘은 깊은 관련이 있는 것으로 추론된다.

영어초록

The purpose of this article is to investigate Avicenna's concept of the simplicity of Islamic God, and to find the reasons why between Avicenna and orthodox Islam concepts of simplicity are so different. I try to show different concepts of Avicenna and orthodox Islam.
For Avicenna, God's simplicity is the most troublesome attribute. Simplicity governs not only God in himself and God's action, but also the result of God's action. God's simplicity implies that God is simple and necessary and immutable, eternal. Avicenna emphasizes the necessity of God. God's simple act by way natural necessity is devoid of will and intention. God's will is simple, primarily and essentially wills himself. God necessarily wills the universe. God does not have free choice.
Avicenna emphasizes that God is a necessary being. It indicates that God does nat a have a cause, as well as that God is the cause of other things. The necessary being does not have a quiddity. God's being simple or without composition. Actual existence is identical to being a necessary being.
Avicenna talks that God has perfections. He states that God has complete being. Moreover, God is pure good. God as pure being, is pure good and pure perfection. One should note that while the divine knowledge of the universe concerns the divine activity. The divine simplicity, necessity and immutability and eternity are divine formal features, which govern all pure perfections or divine attributes, including the divine knowledge and will.
God has all perfections in a different mode from creation. The simplicity of God very respect only one thing emanates from God. What he concludes is that such a perfect, order can only be brought about by a cause that has perfect being and the perfections necessary for this perfect order to happen in the world. Thus cretion indicates that the cause of such things must have simple will. Perfections that are found in the world are the effects of God's properties.
I think that the concept of the simplicity of Islamic God is closely with the concepts of transcendence and of immanence. Therefore I try to compare the concepts of transcendence with the concepts of immanence of God in Islamic scholar, namely Avicenna and orthodox Islam. Orthodoxy Islam tells that God's immanence is compatible with His transcendence. Avicenna's philosophy emphasizes the concept of transcendence in Islamic God. In his theory the concept of God's immanence cannot be found. I think that this may result from some ideas in Greek philosophy. Avicenna's philosophy emphasizes the concept of transcendence in Islamic God whereas the concept of God's immanence cannot be found in his theory.
According to orthodox islam, God is described as omnipotent, omniscient and eternal and perfect being. The view of Avicenna is based on the assumption that the unchangeable, eternal, perfect being cannot relate with any changeable, temporal, imperfect being. I think that this may result from some ideas in Greek philosophy.
Like this, the concepts of simplicity of Islamic God in Avicenna and orthodox islam are different. I think that the reason lies in different concepts and methodologies of God. The reason why the concepts of simplicity of Islamic God in these two positions are different lies in the difference of the system of perception and thought in Avicenna and orthodox Islam.
