DMZ 내 유적 탐색과 신발견 (Exploration and discovery of remains in the DMZ)

초록

DMZ 내 유적은 최근 실태조사와 지역 내 연구 등을 통해 그 존재가 점차 알려지고 있다. 하지만 여전한 접근의 현실적 제약은 유적의 존재를 파악하는데 한계가 있다. 설혹유적의 존재가 확인되었다 하더라도 기존 자료의 검토 수준에서 크게 벗어나지 못하고있다. 따라서 이러한 문제점을 보완하고자 고지형분석 방법의 기반인 항공사진 판독을통해 DMZ 내 유적을 확인하였다.
DMZ 내 유적의 탐색과 확인은 5개의 권역으로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 각 권역은 지역내 대표 유적의 분포를 통해 선ㆍ역사시대 주요한 유적의 존재 가능성을 접근할 수 있었다. 이렇게 확인된 유적은 대동여지도 등의 과거 지도 및 지형도 등을 바탕으로 GIS 분석을 통해 그 위치를 지정하였고, 항공사진 판독과 지형의 3차원 제작을 통해 그 형태적특징과 흔적을 더욱 명확히 하였다.
이러한 과정을 통해 확인된 DMZ 내 유적은 크게 관방과 고분유적 그리고 사지와 기타 건축물 유적 등으로 구분된다. 관방유적은 도성과 성곽, 봉수지 등을 확인하였고 서해안에서 동해안 지역에 이르기까지 다양한 형태와 입지에 존재하는 것을 볼 수 있었다.
고분은 적석총과 전골총 등의 다소 규모가 큰 형태 등을 확인할 수 있었는데, 일부의 고분은 크기와 형태 그리고 위치 등을 다시금 수정할 수 있었다. 기타 사지와 정자 등이 유존할 가능성이 높은 지역을 확인하였다. 이 유적들은 철원과 고성지역에서 다수의 평탄대지 지형과 함께 확인되며, 문헌과 일제강점기 고적조사 자료 등에서 보이는 석탑 등의석축물 흔적 등과 같이 볼 수 있었다.
이러한 분석과 확인 과정 등을 거쳐 DMZ 내 유적을 파악하였는데, 새롭게 확인되거나 위치가 다시 특정된 유적은 총 5개 권역 22개소에 해당한다. 추후 확인된 유적의 분포와 현황에 대한 면밀한 검토와 후속 연구를 통해 DMZ 내 각 유적의 성격과 시기에 대한 구체적 논의가 진행될 필요가 있다

영어초록

The existence of remains in the DMZ is gradually becoming known through recent fact-finding surveys and local research. However, the approach employed has practical limitations in confirming the existence of remains. Even if the existence of remains has been confirmed, it does not deviatesignificantly from thelevel of review of existing materials. Therefore, to compensate for these problems, remains in the DMZ were identified through an analysis of aerial photos, which is the basis of the paleotopographic analysis method.
The search and confirmation of remains within the DMZ was examined by dividing it into five metropolitan areas. Each metropolitan area was able to approach the possibility of the existence of major remains in the prehistoric and historical eras through the distribution of representative remains within the area. The location of the identified remains was designated through GIS analysis based on past maps and topographic maps such as Daedongyeojido, and the morphological features and traces were further clarified through reading of the aerial photos and production of three-dimensional topography.
The remains in the DMZ identified through this process were largely classified into fortresses, ancient tomb relics, and saji and other architectural remains. Fortress remains wereconfirmed to be the capital city, fortress wall, and beongsuji and exist in various shapes and locations, from the west coast to the east coast. Regarding tombs, rather large-scale shapes such as Jeokseok-chong and Jeok-gol-chong were confirmed, and the size, shape, and location of some tombs could be re-designated. As for the other confirmed remains, it was possible to examine possible sites of relics such as saji and pavilions. These relics were identified along with a large number of flat topography in Cheorwon and Goseong areas, along with traces of stone structures such as stone pagodas found in literature and ancient materials.
Through this analysis and confirmation process, the remains in the DMZ were confirmed, and the newly identified or relocated remains corresponded to a total of 22 sites in 5 regions. It is necessary to conduct a detailed discussion on the characteristics of individual ruins in the DMZ through a detailed review and follow-up research on the distribution and current status of the identified remains
