초록

신제품 개발 프로세스(NPD) 는 새롭게 만들어지거나 다시 브랜딩(Branding) 되는 제품과 서비스의 개념화, 디자인, 개발 및 마케팅을 포함한 일련의 과정을 말한다. 본 연구의 목적은 기술(Technique) 중심의 미술대학 공예전공 기초교과목 중 제품기획 과정에 적용할 수 있는 공예 신제품 개발 프로세스(NCPD) 프로토타입(Prototype)을 제안하여 이를 기반으로 학생들의 문제해결 능력을 향상시키고 졸업 후 1인 창업 혹은 공예 제작현장에 바로 투입 가능한 인재배출을 위함에 있다.
신제품 개발 프로세스의 문헌고찰을 통하여 개념을 이해하고 공예전공 중심의 신제품 개발 프로세스의 필요성을 살펴보았다. 또한 공예 제작환경과 창작자가 가진 특성을 반영하여 C-Stage 1단계부터 5단계까지의 공예 신제품 개발 프로세스 프로토타입을 제안하였다. 각 단계별로 핵심 주제에 맞는 개발활동과 교과활동을 포함하고 있으며 C-Stage 1, 2 단계를 중심으로 15주 동안 진행되었던 제품기획프로세스 수업의 최종 결과물과 프로세스 평가 질문 사례를 분석하고 학습 기대효과를 확인할 수 있다. 아울러 학생주도형 학습을 가능하게 하여 복잡한 문제 해결능력(complex problem solving), 비판적 사고(critical thinking), 창의성(creativity) 증진에 도움을 줄 수 있다고 판단한다. 예비 창작자인 학생들은 시스템화 된 프로세스를 따라가며 스스로 사고하고 판단하는방법을 익히고 아이디어를 확장 시키는 도구로서 쉽게 활용할 수 있다.
이번 연구를 통하여 디자인경영과 공예 분야의 융복합 연구가 활발히 이루어져 4차 산업혁명에 걸맞은 공예산업의 혁신을 기대해본다.

영어초록

New product development (NPD) refers to a series of processes including the conceptualization, design, development, and marketing of a product or service newly made or re-branded. This study aims to propose a prototype of the process of developing a new crafts product that can be applied to the process of product planning in the primary subjects for crafts major at the college of art focused on skills to improve the students’ problem-solving ability based on this and produce men of talent, who can be put in a single-person startup or the crafts industrial field immediately after graduation.
This study figured out the concept through a literature review on the new product development process and examined the necessity of the new product development process, focused on crafts major. Also, this study proposed a prototype of the new crafts product development process (NCPD) from C-Stage 1 through 5, reflecting the crafts production environment and the characteristics of the creators. Each stage includes development and curriculum activities for the key theme. This study could analyze the final result of the class on the product planning process held for 15 weeks based on C-Stage 1,2 and the cases of questions for the process assessment and check the expected effects. Also, it is judged that allowing the students’ self-directed learning can help them promote complex problem-solving ability, critical thinking, and creativity. The students, prospective creators, can learn how to think and judge themselves, following the systematized process and utilize it as a means of the expansion of their ideas, easily.
Hopefully, there will be the innovation of the crafts industry for the 4th Industrial Revolution as studies of interdisciplinary integration between design management and crafts are actively conducted through this study.
