이상 시와 조연현의 발굴원고 비교 연구 (Comparative study on Lee Sang's published poetry and Cho Yon-Hyun's found scripts)

초록

조연현이 발굴한 원고들을 이상 문학에 포함시킬 때, 이상 문학 연구는 이전보다 훨씬 더 풍요로워질 수 있다. 발굴원고의 내용과 표현이 이상의 발표 작품들과 일치하는 부분이 상당하다는 것은 분명히 확인되는 바이지만, 작가가 명시되어 있지 않은 발굴원고를 이상의 작품에 포함시키기 위해서는 발굴원고의 어떠한 측면들이 이상의 유고로 추정할 수 있는 근거들인가를 확인해야만 할 것이다. 그러나 이러한 확인 과정 없이 이상 문학 연구자들은 발굴원고를 이상의 미발표 유고로 확정지어 이상의 텍스트에 포함시켜오고 있다.
본고는 이상의 미발표 유고로 추정되는 발굴 원고들과 이상의 작품들을 대조하고 비교함으로써 발굴원고가 이상의 유고임을 주장한 조연현의 추상적인 견해를 구체화시키고자 하였다. 필자가 이상의 작품들과 발굴원고들을 어휘와 구절의 동일성, 내용의 유사성을 기준으로 확인한 결과, 이상의 유고시 「內科」·「街衢의추위」와 발굴원고 「咯血의 아침」, 발표시 「詩第九號 銃口」와 발굴원고 「咯血의 아침」, 발표시 「詩第十四號」와 발굴원고 「斷想 6」, 발표시 「아츰」과 발굴원고 「斷想 7」, 발표시 「詩第十三號」와 발굴원고 「作品 第三番」 등이 비교가 가능한 작품들로 나타났다. 필자는 이들 작품 간의 유사성을 비교하면서 그러한 유사성이 각각의 작품에 어떠한 변별점을 가지고 표현되었는지에 대해서도 살펴보았다.
이상의 발표시 및 유고시들과 유사한 발굴원고들을 비교한 결과, 발굴원고의 일부 구절에 해당하는 이미지들과 표현들이 발표시 혹은 유고시에서는 전체 시상을 이루고 있으며, 완결성을 갖고 형상화되었음이 드러난다. 또한 발표시 및 유고시에는 시의 형식이 부각되어 있는 만큼 시의식도 함축적인 데 반하여 발굴 원고에서 시의식은 표층화되어 있다.
이상의 기존 작품과 유사성을 갖는 발굴원고들을 텍스트로 하여 발굴원고가 과연 이상의 작품인가를 추정해 본 본고는 발굴원고를 이상의 텍스트로 수용하는 데 있어서 추상적이고 주관적인 조연현의 제언들을 구체화시켰다는 데 의의가 있을 것이다. 그러나 조연현의 발굴원고를 이상의 텍스트로 확정짓기 위해서는 본고에서 텍스트로 삼은 번역본 대신에 일문으로 된 발굴원고의 원본이 확보되어야 할 것이다. 이후에 발굴원고 원본이 다시 발견되어 이상의 기존 작품들을 좀 더 정밀하게 비교할 수 있다면, 본고에서 얻은 비교의 결과는 수정되고 보완될 것이다.

영어초록

When including the manuscripts which Cho Yon-Hyun has found to the works of Lee Sang, the research of Lee Sang literature will be more abundant than that of previous. It is obvious that contents and expressions of founded manuscripts have much matching parts with published works of Lee Sang. However, with excluding the necessary process to contain founded manuscripts whose writer was unknown until now to the works of Lee Sang, founded manuscripts were contained to the text of Lee Sang by deciding as unpublished posthumous manuscripts of Lee Sang.
This manuscript realized the abstract opinion of Cho Yon-Hyun who insisted founded manuscripts were the posthumous manuscripts of Lee Sang by contrasting and comparing founded manuscripts which were presumed as unpublished posthumous manuscripts of Lee Sang with published poetry and posthumous poetry of Lee Sang. The standard which compares published and posthumous poetry of Lee Sang with founded works was limited as poetic word, and identification in poetic line and content rather than the similarity in poetic consciousness which can be intervened by subjectivity of interpreter. Also, we searched whether those similarities were expressed to each work with certain differentiation comparing the similarities of these works.
If we look at the works which are so similar with published and posthumous poetry of Lee Sang in expression, content, and image, there are Morning of Hemoptysis which is founded manuscript similar with The Internal Department·Coldness of A Street of posthumous poem and similar with A Poem Number Nine The Muzzle of published poem, Fragmentary Six which is founded manuscript similar with A Poem Number Fourteen of published poem, Fragmentary Seven which is founded manuscript similar with Morning of published poem, and A Work Number Three which is founded manuscript similar with A Poem Number Thirteen of published poem. If we collect the results which compares founded manuscripts with published and posthumous poetry of Lee Sang, we can find that images and expressions which are some passages of founded manuscripts construct whole poetic sensibilities in published or posthumous poetry and have the completion. Also, contrasting that in published and posthumous poetry, poetic consciousness is implicated as the form of poem is emphasized, but in founded manuscripts, poetic consciousness is expressed externally. These features of founded manuscripts make us presume that manuscripts founded by Cho Yon-Hyun were those before completing as the works by Lee Sang.
This manuscript which presumed that founded manuscripts are surely the works of Lee Sang by making founded manuscripts having similarities with existing works of Lee Sang as texts has the meaning that in accepting founded manuscripts as the texts of Lee Sang, abstract and subjective suggestion of Cho Yon-Hyun was realized. In order to decide the founded manuscripts of Cho Yon-Hyun as the texts of Lee Sang, however, the original of founded manuscript which is an episode should be ensured instead of the translation which is regarded as texts in this manuscript. If we can compare more precisely existing works of Lee Sang by re-finding the originals of founded manuscripts in future, the results of comparing in this manuscript will be revised and complemented.
