이연주 시의 가족 모티프 연구 (A Study on the Family Motif in Lee Yeon-ju's Poetry)

초록

본 논문은 이연주 시에 드러난 가족 모티프의 의미를 연구하였다. 빈번하게 드러나면서도 연구 대상으로는 조명되지 않았던 가족 모티프를 구체적으로 탐구하기 위해 본 논문은 프로이트의 가족 로망스 이론과 선행 연구를 기조로 삼아 이연주 시의 가족 모티프를 면밀히 살펴보았다. 이연주의 시에서 가족 모티프는 보편성을 벗어난다는 점에서 시사적이다. 성적으로 타락한 어머니, 부재하거나 무능력한 아버지, 부정되고 거부 되는 아이의 모습으로 나타나는 이연주 시의 가족 모티프들은 세계에 대한 시적 주체의 부정적 인식을 드러내기 위해 사용되고 있다. 성적으로 타락한 어머니 모티프는 어머니 되기를 거부하는 모습을 재현하기 위해 사용되고 있었는데 이연주 시에서 가장 두드러지는 특징으로 어머니 모티프를 들 수 있다. 매음녀, 외도로 인한 가출 주체 등으로 표현되는 어머니 모티프는 가족 공동체의 붕괴 원인으로 등장하거나 가족 공동체 구성의 실패를 예언하기 위해 사용되고 있다. 부재하거나 무능력한 아버지 또한 빈번하게 등장하는 모티프였다. 뿐만 아니라 이러한 아버지 모티프도 가족 공동체를 유지할 수 없게 하는 원인이다. 아버지 모티프는 무능력하거나 처음부터 익명의 대상으로 존재한다. 가족 공동체를 구성하기에는 아버지로서의 기능을 상실한 모습으로 재현되고 있어 특징적이다. 태어나자마자 버려지거나 탄생에 대한 부정의 상징으로 나타나는 아기 혹은 태아 모티프는 앞선 가족구성원들의 도덕적 부정성의 결론으로 귀결되는 양상을 보인다. 정상적인 가족 공동체를 이루기에는 이연주 시의 가족 모티프로 드러나는 구성원들은 부적절했으며 실패를 전제하고 있었다. 태아 혹은 아기 모티프는 실패의 결과물이라 할 수 있다. 이런 보편성을 벗어나는 가족 구성원들의 모습은 결국 삶 자체에 대한 회의로 연결된다. 이연주 시는 실패를 재현하는 가족 모티프를 통해 세계에 대한 부정적 인식과 삶에 대한 회의를 형상화하는 것이다.

영어초록

This study aims to reveal the meaning of family motifs in a Lee Yeon-ju poem. Discussion on the existing Lee Yeon-ju poem has focused on metadiscourse. Critically, it focuses on the details of the poem, in particular providing an exploration of family motifs that are frequently mentioned in discussion but that have not drawn attention as a research theme. Family motifs have a major position in the literary genre, a phenomenon not only of narrative genre but also of poetry. However, study of family motifs in modern poetry is currently in its early stages. Revealing the family motifs in the poems of Lee Yeon-ju, who is regarded as a significant writer of modern women's poetry, will expand the areas of study of this writer’s poetry. At the same time, it will serve as a reminder of the necessity of studying family motifs in modern poetry. Therefore, using Freud's family romance theory and previous research as the basis, this study takes a close look at the family motif in Lee Yeon-ju’s poem. In the poem, family motifs are suggestive in that they deviate from universality. They appear in the form of sexually corrupted mothers, absent or incompetent fathers, and denied and rejected children, and are used to reveal to the world negative perceptions of poetic subjects. The motif of sexually depraved mother is used to recreate her refusal to be a mother. One of the most prominent features in Lee Yeon-ju’s poem is such a mother motif. Mother motifs, as prostitute and eloper due to extramarital affairs, are used either as the cause of the collapse of the family community or as a prevention to the formation of a family community. The absent or incompetent father is also a frequent motif. Father motifs are also used as a cause of failed family community. The inability to exist as an anonymous object from the outset reproduces the loss of the father’s function of forming a family community. A baby or fetal motif that is abandoned as soon as it is born or appears as a symbol of denial represents the prior moral degradation of family members. This is because Lee Yeon-ju’s family member motifs are inappropriate and presuppose failure to form a normal family community. Fetal or baby motifs are the result of failure. Beyond this universality, the appearance of family members eventually leads to skepticism about life itself. Lee Yeon-ju's poem is about portraying negative perceptions of the world and skepticism about life through family motifs that reproduce failures.
