신동엽 시의 에코페미니즘 연구 (Study on the Ecofeminism of Poetry by Shin Dong-yeop)

초록

본고는 신동엽의 시에 나타나는 에코페미니즘의 특성을 살펴보고, 자본주의 가부장제와 자급적 관점의 공동체가 그의 시에서 어떤 양상으로나타나는지 살피려는 목적을 갖는다.
에코페미니즘에서 인간은 자연과 생태계를 조화롭게 만드는 존재로 규정되고 있으나 자연의 생명성을 파괴하고 조화로운 균형을 깨는 문명과개발에 대해선 부정적인 시각을 갖는다. 그리고 자본주의 가부장제의 파괴성을 폭로하고 그러한 착취체제를 뒷받침해 온 과학기술과 경제개발논리를 비판한다. 이외에도 기존의 개발이 생태계를 파괴하고 자연과의관계에 악영향을 끼쳤다고 보며 파괴적 개발이 아닌 상생의 관점에서 자급적 대안을 제시한다.
신동엽의 시에서 생태학적 상상력은 주로 대지와 땅의 이미지를 통해서 나타난다. 대지는 원초적인 생명성을 간직한 풍요로운 공간으로 표상되는데, 여성이 가진 생식 능력과 생명성이 상징적으로 드러난다. 반면에개발은 자연과 대지의 생명성을 파괴하고 선진국과 기득권 세력의 이권만을 충족시키는 것으로 나타난다. 이로 인해 식민지의 환경이 피폐해지고 자원이 고갈되어 대지와 자연이 더 이상 제 기능을 할 수 없는 상황에 처하게 된다.
또한 신동엽은 자본주의 가부장제의 파괴성을 폭로하고 그러한 착취체제를 뒷받침해 온 과학기술과 경제개발 논리를 비판한다. 그리고 남성에 의한 가부장제와 인간에 의한 자연파괴 사이에 상관관계가 있음을 보여준다. 하지만 그의 시에서는 남성을 타도의 대상으로 보지 않고 원래 여성과 하나에서 출발했다고 보는 통합적 관점을 견지한다. 시 「껍데기는가라」에서 태초의 원시적인 모습을 한 아사달과 아사녀가 등장하고 있으며, 이들은 착취와 억압의 관계가 아닌 서로 존중하고 화합하는 관계를 지향하고 있다.
신동엽은 기존의 개발이 생태계를 파괴하고 자연에 악영향을 끼쳤다고보았고 그에 따라 상생의 관점으로서 자급적 대안을 제시한다. 자급적 관점은 생명보존을 위한 여성의 노동을 남성이 분담하여 사회의 무장해제에 중요한 기여를 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이러한 자급적 관점을 신동엽은 완충지대와 영구 평화국에서 이룰 수 있다고 보았다. 그의 시에서 완충지대는 이데올로기의 대립과 식민지에 대한 개발계획, 자본주의 가부장제의 폭력성이 무화되고 남성과 여성이 평등한 관계를 지향하는 곳으로나타난다. 즉 자연과 생태계를 수단으로 여기거나 종속의 관계에 편입시키는 것이 아닌 그 자체를 인정하고 상호간에 평등을 실현하는 상생의 공동체를 지향한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of ecofeminism revealed in the poetry by Shin Dong-yeop, as well as examine the aspects of capitalistic patriarchy and self-sufficient perspective community.
In ecofeminism, humans are defined as an existence that harmonizes nature and ecosystem but with a negative perspective on civilization and development that destroy the vitality and harmonious balance of nature. In addition, it exposes the destructibility of the capitalistic patriarchy and criticizes science & technology and logic of economic development that have supported such system of exploitation. It also holds a view that existing development has destroyed the ecosystem and caused adverse effects on the relationship with nature, while presenting a self-sufficient alternative from the perspective of coexistence instead of destructive development.
Ecological imagination in the poetry of Shin Dong-yeop is revealed mostly through the images of the earth and land. The earth is represented as a rich space with basic vitality and the reproductive ability and vitality of women are revealed symbolically. On the other hand, development is revealed as something that destroys the vitality of nature and the earth while only satisfying the rights and interests of advanced countries and the privileged. Accordingly, colony environment became impoverished with depleted resources, thereby facing a situation in which the earth and nature can no longer perform their functions.
Additionally, Shin Dong-yeop exposes the destructibility of capitalistic patriarchy and criticizes science & technology and logic of economic development that have supported such system of exploitation. He also shows that there is a correlation between the patriarchy of men and destruction of nature by humans. In his poetry, however, it holds an integrated view that men started out from one with women initially rather than seeing men as the object of overthrow. In his poem 「Away with Shell」,Asadal and Asanyeo with primitive appearances of the beginning appear and they strive for a relationship of mutual respect and harmonize instead of a relationship of exploitation and suppression.
Based upon his view that existing development destroyed ecosystem and caused adverse effects on nature, Shin Dong-yeop presents a self-sufficient alternative from an according perspective of coexistence. The self-sufficient perspective refers to the division of women's labor for life preservation by men to make important contributions to the disarmament of society. Shin Dong-yeop saw that such self-sufficient perspective could be achieved in neutral zone. In his poetry, neutral zone is revealed as a place where men and women strive for an equal relationship while the ideological conflict,colony development plan and violence of capitalistic patriarch are nullified.
Namely, it is not to consider nature and ecosystem as means or include them in the relationship of subordination but to strive for a community of coexistence in which they are acknowledged as they are and mutual equality is realized.
