시 텍스트를 활용한 무용창작 연구 - 백석 시 ‘남신의주 유동 박시봉방’을 중심으로 - (Using Poetry to Create Dance - On the Poem "Namsinuiju Yudong Parksibongbang"-)

초록

본 연구는 종합예술적인 특성을 가지고 있는 무용과 텍스트의 원형인 시(poem)문학을 작가정신을 기반으로 접목하는 무용시(Dance Poem) 창작에 대해 연구한다. 무용시(Dance Poem)는 시의 문학적 구조와의 유기성을 드러내는 방식으로서 주력하고 이러한 시와 무용의 결합으로 탄생하는 융합 장르로서의 작품창작 연구를 한다. 본 연구는 시인 백석의 ‘남신의주 유동 박시봉방(南新義州 柳洞 朴時逢方)’을 텍스트로 선정하였다. 작가 백석의 체험 단면을 담은 서술적 이야기로서 호소력 짙은 체념미학을 이끌어낸 대표작 중 하나인 이 작품은 현재까지도 그 표현과 형식의 독특성을 인정받고 있다. 본 연구의 백석 시 텍스트를 분석한 창작 방안은 다음 세 가지다. 첫째, 화자가 시작(詩作)을 통해 지향하는 귀결성이며 그것이 가지는 내러티브적 효과이다. 둘째, 시적 서술 방식으로서 객관성 유지를 위해 거리를 두는 방식과 산문 형식의 줄글로 표현하는 방식이다. 셋째, 향토적 표현으로서 방언을 사용하고 한국적인 정서를 드러내고자 하는 시인의 의도이다. 이것을 내용 전개의 뼈대로 삼아 다양한 모습의 인물을 설정하였고 시 텍스트를 다양하게 활용하며 전개하였다. 이러한 구조로 이루어진 무용창작에 관한 내용을 기술하고 시 텍스트를 활용한 무용작품의 사례를 소개하여 본 연구 작품과 비교하도록 한다. 무용작품 레지 오바디아(Regis Obadia)와 조엘 부비에(Joelle Bouvier)의 ‘방(La Chambre)’과 이해준의 ‘또 다른 고향’을 제시한다. 이로써 연구자의 작품에서 중점적으로 표현하고자 했던 요소와 보완하여야 할 부분에 대해서 언급하도록 한다. 본 연구는 시와 무용의 작가정신의 확장의 차원으로서 독창적 창작물로 표현하는 데에 그 의의를 두고 안무자의 의도와 시적 감성을 확대하는 데에 주력한다. 시 텍스트를 해체하고 연극화 하는 다양한 시도를 하였으며 무용 작품이 관객에게 정서를 전달하고 내용으로서 다가갈 수 있는 콘텐츠로 만들어지길 기대 하였다.

This study is about original work of Dance Poem, which is combined dance as a composite arts and poem as the original form of text, based on artistic spirit. Dance Poem is defined in The Encyclopedia of Physical Athletics as expression an feeling that flowed into heart with body movement and emphasis of the new and free emotional expression; it equals movement of dance as an expressive art and characteristic of poetic language are identical context. This study aims plan of original work of dance revealing organic traits with literary structure of poem on the basis of these context mentioned above, and Dance Poem works as fusion genre which is created with combination poetic literature and dance. The study chose the poem "Namsinuiju Yudong Parksibongbang" by poet Baek Seok for the research. this work is one of Baek Seok's showpieces; that is descriptive story in which is put an aspect of the writer's experience to draw captivating and powerful esthetics of resignation; that has acknowledged the expression and unique of the poetic structure until now. The ways of creation using the poem, "Namsinuiju Yudong Parksibongbang", are these three. First, the consequentiality that narrator is oriented towards through making poem and narrative effect that is caused by the former. Next, the way that the speaker keep its distance to maintain objectivity, which is a method of poetic description and the other way that express a work with prose. Third, the intention of the poet that try to reveal indigenous Korean emotion using dialect as an native expression. In the work for this research, various characters are set and multiple poem texts are used on the basis of the three ways above as the frame for developing the story. In addition, so as to compare with this study, different examples of some dance performances using poem are demonstrated: "La Chambre" by Regis Obadia, Joelle Bouvier, "Another Home" by HaeJun Lee. From the comparison, the research deals with an aspect that try to express mainly and complement part in the work for the study. Dance is an art that put the intended word into movement, so it is showed implicative and metaphorical form like poem. The study tried variously something like dismantling the poem and dramatizing it, expecting dance performance is developed into the contents which give the audience a feeling and approach them more closer. So as to achieve that, this study put significance into expressing unique original work to meet artistic spirit of two area, dance and poem, and expand the spirit. For that reason, we try hard to enlarge choreographer's intention and poetic emotion, and to elevate the quality of the dance work through creating based on close approaching between poetic literature and dance. Finishing this abstract, we hope this research help to expand understanding the genre of Dance Poem and develop creating dance.
