초록

이 연구는 윤석중(尹石重, 1911∼2003)이 1930년대에 발표한 ‘동화시(童話詩)’의 미학적 특징과 문학사적 의의를 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 일반적으로 동화시는 시적인 형식에 동화적인 내용을 담은 아동문학의 하위 갈래를 가리킨다. 그러나 동화시의 정의와 범주는 ‘시적인 것’, ‘동화다운 것’을 어떻게 보느냐에 따라 조금씩 다르게 구성되어 왔으며, 실제로 창작된 작품의 유형과 특징도 시대에 따라 변화해 왔다.
1930년대 윤석중의 동화시는 기존 동요의 경직된 정형률의 틀을 벗어나고, 유년 독자및 현실과의 접점을 모색해야 한다는 당대 문학사적 요구에 응답하며 모색되었다. 윤석중의 동화시는 장르의 경계를 넘어 시와 이야기를 결합하여 만들어졌으며, 그림이나 음악 등 인접 예술 양식과의 조합 가능성에도 열려있었다. 윤석중의 동화시 창작 과정에서시도된 다채로운 장르 융복합 및 미디어 전환은 아동 독자의 미적 경험을 풍부하게 하는 예술적 탐색으로서 의미가 있다.
윤석중의 동화시는 작가 개인의 작품 세계에 대한 이해를 심화 확장하고, 한국 동화시의 역사적 계보를 파악하는 데 중요한 참조점을 제공한다. 또한 동화시의 스토리텔링각색 사례는 장르 교섭과 융합이 다양하게 촉발되는 현대의 미디어 환경에서 아동문학창작 및 문학교육의 방향을 찾는 데도 시사하는 바가 적지 않다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the aesthetic characteristics and literary significance of ‘narrative poems for children published in the 1930s by Yun Seok-Jung(尹石重, 1911∼2003). narrative poem for children refers to a sub-branch of children’s literature that contains stories with a narrative structure in a poetic style. However, the definitions and categories of the narrative poem for children have been constructed differently depending on the era, and there are also differences in the types and characteristics of actually created works.
In the 1930s, Yun Seok-Jung’s narrative poems for children were sought in response to the demands of the literary history of the time to break away from the rigid stereotyped frame of existing children’s songs and seek contact with children’s readers and reality. Yun Seok-Jung’s narrative poem for children crosses the boundaries of genre, combines poetry and story, and shows creative ideas that promote convergence with adjacent art forms such as painting and music. The various genre fusion and media conversions attempted in the process of creating narrative poems for children by Yun Seok-Jung are meaningful examples of artistic exploration that enrich the aesthetic experience of children’s readers.
Yun Seok-Jung’s narrative poem for children deepens and expands the understanding of the author’s world of art, and provides an important reference point for understanding the historical genealogy of Korean narrative poems for children. In addition, the artistic exploration of narrative poems for children, which aims at the production of crossover style texts in the mutual relationship between text and media, has implications for finding the direction of children’s literature creation and education in the modern media environment that triggers various negotiations and convergence between genres.
