『옹고집전』에 나타난 眞假爭主의 숨은 문제 －正體性과 失傳 문제를 중심으로－ (Hidden Problem of Truth and Falsity Contention Represented in ‘Onggojipjeon’)

초록

「옹고집전」은 眞假爭主의 문제를 바탕으로 올바른 삶의 方向性과 人間性 本然의 문제를 제시하고 있다. 옹고집은 道僧에 의해 창조된 假옹이라는 존재를 통해 자신의 삶을 되돌아볼 수 있는 기회를 제공받지만, 假옹을 통해 드러나는 당대 사회의 윤리와 이념은 현실의 상황을 무시한 道德的 當爲性으로 무장된 絶對的인 價値로 擁護되고 있다. 따라서 眞옹의 변화는 假옹의 삶의 樣態와 다를 바 없는 受動的인 것으로 볼 수 있다. 그리고 이것이 작품이 가지고 있는 眞假爭主의 주요한 문제 중 하나라고 파악하였다. 否定的 形象의 人物群을 서사의 전면에 부각시켜 사회적으로 요청되는‘있어야 할 것’에 대한 價値에 주목하면서도 동시에 당대에 존재하고 ‘있는’ 인물 형상과 그 삶의 價値에 대해서도 논의하고 있다.

영어초록

‘Onggojipjeon’ is a literary work that presents the direction of proper living and the true nature of humanity based on the problem of truth and falsity contention. Onggojip was given the opportunity to look back his own life through 'Replicated Onggojip' created by an enlightened Buddhist monk, but the ideology and ethics of the society at that time that were revealed through the 'Replicated Onggojip' was protected as the absolute value armed with ethical norm that ignored real world circumstances. Because of this, Onggojip became a being isolated from social identity by the demand of the society at that time, and it could be seen that changes of 'Onggojip' could be regarded as passive modality that was not different from the modality of 'Replicated Onggojip'. And this was understood as one of the important problems of the truth and falsity contention that are contained in the literary work. Onggojip is a wicked man type of char- acter. Pansori, unlike other genre of literary art, appears to pay attention also to the human aspect different from the one demanded by the existing ethics and ideology. In other words, it pays attention to the value that ‘should be there’ that is demanded by society through highlighting the group of characters of negative aspects in the foreground of narration, and at the same time, it also discusses the character aspect that ‘is there’ existing at that time and its value of life. This new modality of life and diverse human aspects are revealed mainly as negative aspects, but the appearance of these characters can be regarded as playing the role of an advance guard point which points out acute contradictions and conflicts of the society at that time. But such negative character aspects succeeded in radically revealing the conflicts and contradictions of the society at that time, but could not preset alternatives to these. The character defects or stiff attitudes of life that such negative character aspects have became the objects of criticism, satire, and jokes, and reveal the limitations of having to be brought into the ethics and ideology that are demanded by the existing society.
