왕희지의 종교와 서예술 성취의 상관성 연구 (A Study on the Correlation of calligraphy and Wang-Xizhi’s Religion)

초록

본 논문에서는 불교와 도교적 측면에 중점을 두고 동진시대 왕희지의 종교를 통하여 그의 서예성취의 연관성을 고찰하였다. 특히, 품격있는 서예의 표현성과 심미성을 드높인 외적요소와 내적요소가 고루 균형을 이룰 수 있었던 관점에서 논하였다.
동진시대 왕희지는 심미성이 뛰어난 예술적 경지를 추구하며 書聖으로서 추앙 받고있다. 훌륭한 스승을 접하고 낭야 왕씨 일가의 훈육속에 심미안과 기법을 습득 할 수 있었다. 무엇보다 당시의 현학적 사상의 열풍속에서 불교와 도교를 통한 종교의 심취와 영향은 왕희지 서예술의 철학적 사고와 심미 의식을 매우 고취시켰다.
왕희지의 불교관에 깊은 영향을 준 인물은 고승 支遁이었다. 장자, 소요유론 등 지둔의 해박한 지식을 들으며 더욱 불교에 심취하는 계기가 되었다. 道家의 無로써 불가의 ‘空’을 설명한 것이 魏晉 佛學의 중요 특성이다. 당시의 귀족 계층들은 이런 사상에 기초를 둔 학문과 예술을 연마하였다. 왕희지의 불교관은 불교의 유심론을 흡수하여 현학적이고 방일하면서도 활발한 인생관으로 발전하였다. 대승불교의 교리였던 『般若心經』의 주된 사상이었던 空思想은 왕희지에게도 중요한 불교론으로 작용하였다. 空사상을 통하여 이론보다 실천적 측면을 보여주었고 인공적 수식이 배제된 귀족적이고 예술적 미감의 세계를 표출하였다. 왕희지는 삶과 서예술에서 집착을 떠나 해방과 자유를 얻으며 수련했던 空사상은 그의 참된 자아를 찾으며 세상에 대한 포용을 확대 하였다.
왕희지는 양생술과 수련을 통하여 평생을 도교와 뗄 수 없는 삶을 살았다. 그의 많은 척독에는 도교적인 삶을 확인하는 일화가 전해진다. 청담지사들은 기본적으로 도가적 방향과 관념적 태도를 이어받으며, 儒ㆍ道의 한계를 혼란시켰어도 주된 관점은 도가사상 표출과 취향을 담고 있다. 무심의 경지를 통하여 신선과 같은 마음이 발양하여 서예술 성취에 도달 할 수 있었다.
왕희지의 심후한 종교관에서 발양된 예술 철학적 요소는 서예술을 펼치는데 중요한 점이다. 그의 심미추구는 신채를 지닌 진정한 藝術性과 創新性으로 발현되었고 이를 통하여 흔들림 없이 뛰어난 서예가의 위치에 있게 된 것이다.

This paper investigated the Correlation of the Calligraphy and Religion in the aspect of Buddhism and Taoism of Wang-Xizhi.
Wang-Xizhi has been respected as an excellent calligrapher with highly aesthetic state and the pursuit of artistic eternity in the Jin times.
Calligraphic achievements of Wang-Xizhi and exploring the origin of the aesthetic calligraphy were feasible it to works equally balanced external factors and internal factors.
Through meeting a great teacher and discipline of Wang's family has learned techniques and aesthetics of Chinese calligraphy.
More than anything else, another reason for that enhanced aesthetic of calligraphy of Wang-Xizhi. At that time, Xunnxue of Wei-jin Period was very popular.
Religious infatuation through the Buddhism and Taoism was very inspire philosophical thinking and aesthetic awareness, in addition to spiritual alive and elegant calligraphy art could do.
Wang-Xizhi was influenced by the high monk Zhi-Dun in the Buddhism. after listen to the speech of Zhi-Dun about the Zhuang-Zhe and theory of Peripatetic Amusement, Wang-Xizhi got a joy and peace of mind. Since then, frequent interchange with Zhi-Dun has evolved a relation of respect and Wang-Xizhi is fascinated by Buddhism in his later years.
Buddhism of Wang-Xizhi developed pedantic and active outlook on life to take a idealistic Buddhism The doctrine of Mahayana Buddhism was main idea of The Prajmaparamita Sutra is Sunya idea. Such a Sunya idea was acting as an important Wang-Xizhi , ultimately, wants to be a free even without interference and was not obsessed by everything. In other words, to reach enlightenment and liberate filled with wisdom through awareness for the accurate Sunya idea He showed practical rather than theoretical aspects to the pursuit of truth through Sunya idea.
He were expressed the world of nobility and with artistic beauty that excluded artificial, and impart ideas and freedom, the Sunya idea of training has expanded a broad-minded person and with tolerance to the world.
Taoism of Wang-Xizhi, Also, given effet to his Calligraphy art. Throughout human affairs, he practiced a pure heart and away from the target of the obsession found the true appearance of the target. Wang Xizhi lived a life closely with taoism through curing and training. many of the Wang Xizhi's scrapbooks is tell the story to ascertain his life as the religious taoist.
Basically, Cheong tan zhi shi(淸談志士) inherited ideological attitude and Taoistic orientation, and even if confused limit of confucianism and Taoism, it's main point has meaning Taoistic ideas and intetions. Infatuation for religious of Wang-Xizhi were able to achieve to his calligraphy art through attain a state of perfect self-effacement and such as a hermit up his mind. Art philosophical elements generated by profound religion is important.
Pursuit of aesthetic of Wang-Xizhi is revealed artistry and creativity. These points became the location of calligraphers historically excellent without shaking.
