학교스포츠클럽 활동을 통한 역량과 인성 : 대학수시전형에의 반영 (What Competencies & How to Reflect them on College Admission Process)

초록

The purpose of this study was to find out how admissions officers recognize what competencies could be fostered through school sport club activities and how the developed competency could be described in the personal statement. In addition, strategies to reflect the developed competency on the college admission process have been investigated on behalf of the physical education-related perspective. Participants were 10 admissions officers at one of the colleges located in Seoul. Three structured questionnaires were delivered to explore (1)instant answers with respect to “any form of visual information in relation to sport or physical education”, (2)competencies that could be fostered in sport or physical education, and lastly to get answers regarding, (3)any form of visual information or data(news articles, still cuts, photos, video clips etc.). The collected data were compared with the data produced in other related studies. Results were as follows. (1)Sense of sociality, teamwork, and cooperation were described feasible competencies that could be nurtured in sport or physical education in other studies, while (2)persistency, diligence, or perseverance is the instant as well as the considerate answers from the admissions officers. Therefore, (1)self-reflective positive story including the competencies of (2)persistency, diligence, or perseverance is suggested more persuasive to admissions officers. In addition, diverse competency-included real stories should be explored and disseminated for school sport club activity to be reflected on the college admission process.
