송ㆍ원대 호전요(湖田窑) 도자유약의 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Porcelain Glazes at Hutian Kiln during Sung and Yuan Dynasties)

초록

경덕진은 중국의 도자기 생산에 있어서 대표적인 지역이다. 왜냐하면 그 지역은 태토로서 고령토 가 풍부하기 때문이다.
경덕진의 가마 중 하나인 호전요는 오대부터 명대에 이르기까지 5기에 걸쳐 흥망성쇠를 거듭했다. 송·원대 경덕진 호전요의 청백자 조각은 그 다양한 주제, 풍부한 형태와 아름다운 색채로 인하여 매우 큰 가치를 갖고 있다. 그 당시 조각들의 독특한 특징은 유약의 사용에 기인한다. 송대의 도자 조각들은 주로 녹청유로 장식되었던 반면에, 원대의 도자 조각들은 난백유로 장식되었다.
송대에서 원대로 이어지는 시기에 유약의 화학적 조합에서의 변화는 주로 과학과 기계공학의 발전, 사회적 심미 기준의변화, 그리고 형태와 장식에서의 협동과 통일에 기인한다. 북송 말기 호전요에서 소성 기술의 향상은 그릇의 형태, 다양성, 장식기법에서의 풍요로움으로 이어졌다. 그리고 남송대에는 상감기법과 인화장식의 영역에서 계승이 이루어졌다. 이시기에 호전요에서는 대량의 자기 조각들이 생산되었는데, 그 주제는 불교 관음상, 공무원과 군인, 12명의 궁도 문양, 동물 형상 장난감 등에 걸쳐 있다. 이 시기부터 청백유 자기의 생산량은 감소되었지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 고령토나 알루미나가 함유된 도자 태토 같은 도자기용 원재료의 증가, 소성시 휨 비율의 감소, 고온 소성의 성공, 그리고 끝으로 하나에서 둘로 이어지는 태토의 혼합공식에서의 변화를 가져왔다. 그리고 유약의 경우 송대의 청백유 자기는 원대의 난백유 자기로 진화했으며, 이 시기 동안에 상당량의 칼륨과 나트륨을 포함하는 목재유가 유약에 첨가되었지만, 그와 동시에산화칼슘의 포함은 감소했다.
본 논문은 두 시대의 유약과 비교하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
첫째, 송대의 청백유 자기와 원대의 난백유 자기 사이에는 종속관계와 동시에 산입관계도 있다. 둘째, 송대의 청백유 자기로부터 원대의 난백유 자기로의 발전은 과학과 기계공학의 발전, 사회적 심미 기준에서의 변화, 그리고 형태와 장식의협동과 통일을 반영한다.

영어초록

Jingdezhen is a representative area in China's ceramic production, for which there lies in rich kaolin as clay. Hutian kiln, one of the kilns in Jingdezhen, repeated its rise and fall in five periods from Wu Countries to Ming Dynasty. The bluish and white porcelains of Hutian kiln in Jingdezhen during Sung and Yuan Dynasties are of great value because of their various themes, rich shapes and beautiful colors.
The unique characteristics of sculptures at that time was due to the use of glazes. The porcelain sculptures in Sung Dynasty was mainly decorated with shadow green glaze, whereas those in Yuan Dynasty was with bluish and white glaze as well as egg white one.
The changesof glaze decoration from Sung to Yuan Dynasties were mainly caused by the development of science and technology, the changes in social aesthetic standards, and the coordination and unification of shape and decoration. At the end of the Northern Sung Dynasty, the improvement of firing technology at Hutian kiln resulted in richness in vessel’s shape, variety, and decorative techniques. And, in the Southern Sung Dynasty, there was a succession from the Northern Sung Dynasty in the realms of inlay and printing decoration. At this period, Hutian kiln produced a great quantity of ceramic sculptures, whose themes covered Buddhist Guanyin statues, civil and military officials, the twelve zodiac signs, animal shaped toys, etc. From this period, the amount of production of bluish and white porcelains became reduced, but, nonetheless, there were an increase in the production of ceramic raw materials like porcelain clay with kaolin or alumina, and a decrease in the deformation rate in firing, and a success in high temperature firing, and finally a change in the mixing formula of ceramic raw clay from one to two.
And as for the glaze, the bluish and white porcelain of Sung Dynasty was evolved into the egg white glaze of Yuan Dynasty, and during this period a proper amount of wood ash glaze containing potassium and sodium was added to the glaze, but, at the same time, a reduction in the content of calcium oxide.
This paper, in comparison with the two glazes, illustrates as follows.
Firstly, there is a relation of subordination and at the same time inclusion between the bluish and white porcelain of Sung Dynasty and the egg white porcelain of Yuan Dynasty. Secondly, the development from bluish and white porcelain in Sung Dynasty to the egg white porcelain in Yuan Dynasty reflects upon the development of science and technology, the changes in social aesthetic standards, and the coordination and unification of shape and decoration.
