초록

본 논문은 中國 宋代 書畵 品評의 특징인 逸⋅神⋅妙⋅能의 4品格論을 토대로 특히 일품의 미학적 특징을 밝히는데 초점을 맞추었다. 접근관점의 측면에서도 미학의 일반적 분석방법인 技巧論的⋅形神論的⋅審美論的 측면 가운데 기교론적 측면에 압축하여 전개하였다.
예술의 출발은 필연적으로 技巧를 통하여 들어가야만 한다. 특히 동양의 예술은 붓과 먹을 도구로 하여 글씨와 그림을 쓰고 그려서 표현하는 예술이다. 그러므로 필묵의 운용을 익혀야만 제대로 된 작품을 창작할 수 있게 된다.
기교의 또 다른 표현은 法이라고 할 수 있다. 運筆法⋅用墨法을 근간으로 可讀性 있는 書法⋅畵法의 구현, 화면 구성에 적절한 布置法⋅布白法의 적용 등 여러 가지 技法이 예술창작에 동원되게 된다. 이에 따라 창작목적이 잘 실천되기도 하고 졸작에 머물기도 한다. 따라서 技巧와 作法의 습득은 예술의 필수적 절차였다.
최고 수준의 작품에는 최고의 기교가 묻어있게 마련이다. 그러나 문제는 어떤 것이 최고의 기교인가 하는 점이다. 書畵 品格論에서도 최고의 품격이라 할 수 있는 神品과 逸品이 이러한 기교 측면에서 서로 다른 평가를 내 놓는다. 기본적으로 신품은 기교로서 가장 완벽한 꽉 찬 기교를 추구하는 한편, 일품은 표현하고자 하는 핵심 외의 모든 것을 덜어내는 비움의 기교를 추구하였다. 따라서 신품은 技巧의 法을 중시하는 有法的 常法中心이 되며, 일품은 기교너머의 法인 無法中心的 미학관을 기초로 하게 되었다.
본고는 송대의 일품론을 분석하면서 由法入無法의 틀을 견지하되, 法의 完成態인 신품의 기교예술로부터 기교 너머의 無法的 일품예술로 완성되는 진화과정을 살펴보았다. 그리하여 송대의 대표적 일품정의와 내용을 연결하여 각론으로는 出於意表的 脫法⋅筆簡形具的 簡易⋅得之自然的 天成의 소주제를 가지고 일품의 미학특징을 분석하였다. 즉 技巧論的 立場에서의 신품 특징은 應物象形⋅思與神合⋅創意立體의 범주로서 응물상형은 畵6法을 모두 갖춘 것이고, 사여신합은 주객의 交融을 통한 합일을 꾀하는 것이며, 그렇게 하여 創新된 작품이 새로운 體를 다시 세움으로서 곧 법도의 새로운 체계화 시도가 창의입체였다. 그런 반면 일품은 出於意表⋅筆簡形具⋅得之自然을 특징으로 하며, 이 가운데 출어의표는 寫意를 말하는 것으로 기교의 脫法性을 강조하는 것이었고, 필간형구는 爲道日損하는 것처럼 불필요한 人爲를 제거하고 간략함에 筆意를 담을 때 자연의 氣韻生動은 저절로 구현된다는 簡易性을 강조하였다. 그렇게 하면 필연적으로 得之自然하여 자연스런 작품을 할 수 있게 되고, 自生自化하는 만물의 변화를 밝혀 成於自然함으로써 天成에 이르는 것이며, 이것이 일품미학의 최종목표였다.
결국 神品 美學이 儒家美學的 특징에 기인하는 것이라면, 逸品 美學은 뚜렷하게 道家美學的 사유에서 기원하는 것이라고 결론할 수 있었다. 아울러 송대의 서화 품격이론은 일품의 지위가 신품 위에 發展的⋅累層的 段階論으로 편입되어 신품미학에 이어 일품미학이 최고의 미학수준으로 격상되었다는 예술사적 의의가 있다고 할 수 있고, 일품 정의에 도가적 사유를 기반으로 한 重神似的⋅脫技巧的⋅向自然的 지향처를 구체적으로 포함시킴으로써 작품형태에도 특별한 변화가 모색되었다고 볼 수 있다. 즉 인물도석화를 퇴조시키고 수묵산수화를 발전시켰으며, 詩⋅書⋅畵의 조화가 강조됨으로써 문인들이 文氣⋅士氣에 의하여 창작이 수월해졌다는 것이다. 이는 은일풍조와 일품예술의 자연스런 만남으로 이어지고, 주관적 심미정취 내지 生意의 표현으로서 기운생동을 강조하는 문인산수화의 흥성에 지대한 영향을 끼쳤다고 볼 수 있다.

This paper is especially focusing on special aesthetic features of yipin articles on the basis of theory of 4 classes, namely yipin (逸品), shenpin (神品), miaopin (妙品), nengpin (能品) which are the special features of criticism on paintings and calligraphic works in Song dynasty. What concerns the approach method the discussion is developed constricting on technical side among technical, physical-mental, aesthetical sides, which are general methods to analyze aesthetics.
Starting point of art is inevitably technical side. Especially, Oriental art is expressive art of writing and painting which is created using brush and ink. That is why proper piece of art can be created only if one has mastered the usage of brush and ink.
The other expression of technique can be called a law. Various techniques are mobilized for creation of art, namely realization of calligraphy and art of drawing which can be interpreted according to the laws of brush and ink strokes, application of place and margin arrangement which fit the construction of picture, etc. The purpose of creation is well executed according to them. Consequently, acquisition of technique and regulations is mandatory procedure in arts.
As a rule, the pieces of art of the best quality do include the best techniques. However, the problem is what kind of technique should be considered to satisfy the highest standards. Even the theory of classes which evaluates paintings and calligraphic works includes two different sides of techniques as highest standard for shenpin and yipin pieces. On one hand the pieces of shenpin are generally required to be composed using perfect technique, on the other hand pieces of yipin are required to be composed by the technique which excludes everything else except the core point which is planned to be expressed. Consequently, pieces of shenpin are focused on rules and regulations which consider technique (常法), pieces of yipin are composed on the ground of aesthetical values beyond rules and regulations of technique (無法).
The principle of 'lawlessness caused by law (由法入無法)' is maintained firmly in this paper while analyzing the theory of yipin of Song dynasty, so the process of evolution from shenpin art based on technique which is completed according to the regulations to lawless yipin art beyond the technique is examined. The aesthetic values of yipin pieces are analyzed after linking the representative definition of yipin of Song dynasty with the contents dividing into smaller topics of avoiding of regulations due to unexpected effect of art (出於意表的 脫法), simplicity of expression caused by concise usage of brush (筆簡形具的 簡易), natural expression (得之自然的 天成). Namely, special features of yipin pieces can be categorized into pieces depicting shapes similar to things (應物象形), pieces which shapes were merged with author's consciousness (思與神合), and pieces with newly established regulations looking from the viewpoint of technological theory (創意立體). The pieces which depict shapes similar to things do include all 6 regulations for paintings, pieces which shapes were merged with author's consciousness are designed merging subject and object, and pieces with newly established regulations of art were an attempt to systemize regulations constructing new structure once again. On the other hand the special features of yipin pieces were unexpected effect, concise usage of brush, and natural expression, unexpected expression meaning the importance of content and consciousness rather than the shape, thus emphasizing the avoidance of technique. Simplicity of expression means the conciseness and the elimination of unnecessary work while including author's ideas according to the principle that Tao requires everyday reduction (爲道日損), and the fresh expression of nature emphasizes the simplicity which realizes by itself. Consequently, the natural pieces of art can be created due to natural expression, the natural processes of birth and changes can be attested and natural order will be reached by unexpected effect, what is the final goal of yipin aesthetics.
Finally, having in mind that aesthetics of shenpin pieces is caused by special features of Confucian aesthetics, it can be concluded that aesthetics of yipin pieces are clearly caused by Taoist aesthetics. Consequently, the theory of classes of paintings and calligraphic works of Song dynasty has a great meaning in the history of art having introduced the expansive theory of stages which places yipin pieces above shenpin pieces and upgraded the status of yipin aesthetics naming it to be the highest aesthetic standards after shenpin aesthetics. The definition of yipin pieces included the tendencies to paint mind rather than shape, avoidance of rules, natural expression what is based under the Taoism, the special changes in the shape of paintings can be groped, as well. Namely, the portraits, paintings of Buddha and immortals were avoided, landscape paintings were developed, and the harmony among poetry, calligraphy, and paintings was emphasized. In such way the creation of pieces of art became easier according to creative and fighting spirit of literary men. That was achieved through natural agreement of seclusive trends and yipin art. It can be said that it had a great influence on the prosperity of landscape paintings which emphasize the art of highest value, starting from subjective aesthetic appreciation till the expression of thought.
