초록

This study examines Moon-choong-sa held『Sook-sok-jap-ki (菽粟雜記)』, which is Yeon-jae Song Byung-sun's early-day anthology containing a number of literary works that are not included in『Yeon-jae-jip(淵齋集)』. I will summarize the results of this study and conclude with some additional remarks.
1. The Outline of『Sook-sok-jap-ki』: ① Considering the meaning of the terms ‘Sook-sok(菽粟)’ and ‘Jap-ki(雜記)’, the name『Sook-sok-jap-ki』is thought to have been made up by Yeon-jae himself. 『Sook-sok-jap-ki』has no a preface or a n epilogue and has 34 leaves (68 pages), not counting the cover page. Most of『Sook-sok-jap-ki』is deemed to have been transcribed by Yeon-jae himself. The verse and prose works in『Sook-sok-jap-ki』were written when he was between 19 and 30 years old and between 21 and 27 years old, respectively. ② Verse works are included in『Sook-sok-jap-ki』but not in『Yeon-jae-jip』, while 11 out of the 20 prose works in『Sook-sok-jap-ki』are not included in『Yeon-jae-jip』.
2. The value of『Sook-sok-jap-ki』: ① Expansion of Research Materials & Procurement of Draft Works -『Sook-sok-jap-ki』has great value in that it contains works by Yeon-jae that cannot be found elsewhere. 『Sook-sok-jap-ki』 is also significant in that his works are in draft form. ② Verification of Facts & Reconstruction of Daily Life - because『Sook-sok-jap-ki』contains Yeon-jae's unpublished works, it may allow us to verify unknown or disputed facts. In addition,『Sook-sok-jap-ki』helps us to reconstruct Yeon-jae’s daily life. ③ Confirmation of Yeon-jae‘s early-day inclinations and beliefs -『Sook-sok-jap-ki』reveals Yeon-jae’s inclinations toward Tao Yenming's life and his belief.
3. As mentioned above,『Sook-sok-jap-ki』is material held by Moon-choong-sa(文忠祠). Moon-choong-sa held materials are essential in Yeon-jae related studies. Regretfully, these materials are not being properly preserved and in some cases are even becoming damaged. Proper preservation is imperative, as investigation of these valuable materials will provide clues to understanding the spiritual world of our ancestors and solving related problems of the modern day.
