2009 개정 문학교과서의 正典 속 定典의 문제 -고소설 문학교육을 중심으로- (The subject of selecting works in the canon of the revised literature textbooks in 2009 -Based on literature education of the old novels–)

초록

이 글은 문학적 총체로서의 正典이 定典化 되는 양상을, 개정 문학교과서를 중심으로 살펴 본 것이다. 필자는 문학적 총체로서의 正典과 문학교육과정 속에서 교수요목으로 취사선택 된 定典은 구별 될 필요가 있다고 전제하고, 12종의 문학교과서에 나타난 고소설 수록 실태를 분석하였다.
먼저 12종의 <문학Ⅰ>에 나타난 고소설 작품을 분석해 보았다. 확인해 본 결과, ‘고소설1’과 ‘고소설2’를 합하여 본문에 15작품, 학습활동에 14작품, 그리고 본문과 학습활동 모두에 수록된 작품은 5편이었다. 그래서 <문학Ⅰ>에 수록된 고소설의 작품 총량은 많이 부족한 것으로 판단하였다. 그리고 <문학Ⅱ>의 경우에는, ‘고소설1’과 ‘고소설2’를 합하여 본문에 23편, 학습활동에 15편, 본문과 학습활동 모두에 수록된 작품은 6편이었다. 그래서 <문학Ⅱ>는 <문학Ⅰ>에 비해 양과 질적 측면에서 개선되었으며, 상대적으로 균형 감각을 갖추었다고 보았다.
이를 바탕으로, 문학교과서 속 고소설을 통해, 正典의 定典化 양상을 살펴보았다. 이는 문학교과서 속 작품이 定典으로서의 자격을 가지고 있는지를 중심으로 점검해 보았다. 채택 된 작품들이 대단원과 중․소단원 학습목표에 맞게 선별되었는지, 문학사적 측면에서 중요한 작품인지, 고소설의 하위 갈래적 측면에서 대표성을 가질 수 있는 지를 중심으로 살펴본 결과 큰 문제점은 발견되지 않았다.
마지막 장에서는 문학교과서 속 定典과 입시와의 연계성을 검토한 후 문학교육이 잘 되지 않는 몇 가지 요인들을 제시하였다. 그리고 문학교과서 속 定典들의 자격과 품격은 입시에 얼마나 반영되는가에 따라 달라진다는 것을 기출문제를 통해 확인하였다. 그리하여 특정 작품이 문학교과서 속에서 定典으로의 지위를 유지하기 위해서는 입시와 연계되는 비율이 높아져야 한다고 보았다.

This study aims at looking into the aspect that canon as the whole literature is selected and introduced on the revised literature textbooks. The writer thought that it was necessary to distinguish canon as the whole literature from the selected canon as a syllabus in the literature curriculum. So I analyzed the actual condition on how the old novels were included in the twelve literature contexts.
First of all, the old novels of twelve literature textbooks were analyzed. As a result, there are 15 works on the body of book, 14 works on the learning activity and 5 works are included on the body of book and the learning activity both. So it was considered that the total amount of works included on the <Literature textbook Ⅰ> was not enough. On the <Literature textbook Ⅱ>, there are 23 works on the body of book, 15 works on the learning activity including <The old novel 1> and <the old novel 2> and 6 works are included on the body of book and the learning activity both. According to this, we could recognize that <Literature textbook Ⅱ> was improved quantitatively and qualitatively and it has a sense of balance comparing to <Literature Ⅱ>.
On the basis of this, the writer examined the aspect of selecting works of canon in the old novels of the literature textbooks. It was the main point that works of the literature textbook have the qualification. The qualification was checked like these; whether works selected in accordance with the objective of the lesson and unit or not, whether works have a literary significance or not, whether works have the representativeness on the subordinate part of the old novels or not. As a result, there was no big drawback.
In the last chapter, the main causes that influenced on the literature education badly were suggested after looking through the connectivity the way of selecting works and entrance examination. It was identified that the quality and qualification of the selected works could be changed by the fact; how much does it effect on the entrance examination? So, it was needed to increase the percentage of connectivity between the works and the entrance examination to be selected as a canon in the literature textbook and keep in position.
