초록

This study seeks to investigate the sacredness and secularity features in the nomadic culture in Morroco and Tunisia which belong to the Maghreb area.
This study is the second year result of the three-year project supported by the Korea Research Foundation under the title of "A Study on the Arab's Way of Thinking through the Underlying Cultural Data Written in Arabic: Collapse of the Boundary between Sacredness and Secularity". So this study deals with the underlying cultural data written in Arabic, not by the fieldwork or survey in Maghreb.
This study includes Maghreb nomadic characteristics and consciousness in the taboo and ritual but secular activities.
It includes also Maghreb's senses of taboos, sexual discrimination, and some features of animism in their everyday life such as 'bidʕah' in Arabic, sacrificial offering, envious eye(ʕayn al-ḥāsūd, ʕayn al-ḥāsid, ʕayn sharīrah), five fingers(ḳamsah, ḳamīsah), some ways of driving away devils(ʕifrīt) by incantation and amulet, saint worship, etc.
As a result, the study was able to introduce the Maghreb's dewellers's way of thinking mixed with Islam and folk, because the belief in the supernatural power could not be excluded from primitive human beings not even in Maghreb, but in Korea also.
Maghreb cultural background is different from the Mashriq (Eastern parts of Arabic countries) because of its ethnic formation and coexistence of multi-cultures.
