초록

이 논문은 1945년 8월 해방 후부터 서울의 강남 개발이 본격화되기 전인 1960년대까지를 중심으로 하여 서울 토박이들의 공동체 내에서 지속․변용되어 온 정월 세시풍속의 혈연공동체적 세시, 지연공동체적 세시, 혈연공동체로부터 시작해서 지연공동체로 확대되어 나타난 혈연․지연공동체적 세시에 대해 구체적으로 살펴보고, 지연공동체적 정월 세시놀이의 장소성이 지닌 함의에 대해 고찰한 것이다. 서울 토박이들에게 음력 정월은 일 년 중 가장 중요한 세시 시간, 공동체의 공유된 시간으로 작용하였다. 서울의 각 지역에서는 1960년대까지 혈연․지연 공동체를 중심으로 하여 음력설부터 정월대보름까지 정월의 세시의례와 놀이, 속신, 음식 등 다양한 세시풍속이 활발히 행해지고 있었다.
서울에서 정월의 주요한 세시놀이는 각 지역에서 장소성을 형성한 특정한 공공장소들과 연계되어 행해졌으며, 각 지역의 남녀노소 이웃들과 더불어 행하는 다양한 정월 세시놀이는 지연공동체적 특성이 가장 두드러지게 나타났다. 특히 정월대보름날을 중심으로 행해지는 제웅치기, 쥐불놀이, 달집태우기, 달맞이 등은 서울의 주요한 공공장소들에서 ‘불’과 연계되어 지연공동체적 세시로서 행해졌으며, 이는 보름달을 향한 제액초복(除厄招福)의 기원적 의미로 통합된 세시 축제를 형성하고 있었다. 1970년대 이후 서울에서 음력 정월의 지연공동체적인 세시풍속은 대부분 축소되거나 단절되는 변화를 겪게 되었다.

This article is to research the seasonal customs in the first month of the lunar calendar that have been sustained and transformed within the communities of native Seoulites. And this article is focusing on the seasonal customs of the blood-related community, those of the local-related community, those of blood-related and local-related community that started the blood-related community and expanded into the local-related community during the period from the liberation of August 1945 until the 1960s, before the development of Gangnam in Seoul began in earnest, and to identify the implicated meaning of the placeness of the seasonal plays in the first month of the lunar calendar of the local-related community. For the native Seoulites, the first month of the lunar calendar served as the most important time for seasonal customs, a shared time for the community. In various areas in Seoul, various seasonal customs such as rituals, plays, folk beliefs and foods were actively practiced from the lunar New Year’s Day to the Jeongwol Daeboreum [the first full-moon day (the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar)], focusing on blood-related and local-related communities until the 1960s.
In Seoul, main seasonal plays in the first month of the lunar calendar were performed in connection with specific public places that formed a placeness in each region, and the various seasonal plays in the first month of the lunar calendar were performed with neighbors of all ages, men and women in each region showed the most prominent characteristics of a local-related community. In particular, Jewoongchigi, Jwibulnori, sheaf burning, and viewing the first full-moon of the lunar calendar, which are held around Jeongwol Daeboreum, were performed in major public places in Seoul as seasonal customs of the local-related community relating with ‘Fire’. These seasonal customs composed an integrated seasonal festival that pray for Jeakchobok (除厄招福:To suppress bad luck and bring good luck) toward the full moon. After the 1970s, in Seoul, the local-related seasonal customs in the first month of the lunar calendar have undergone changes and most of them shrunk or disappeared.
