분황 원효 사상의 고유성과 독특성 (A Study on Nativeness and Basements of Wonhyo Thoughts)

초록

이 논문의 목표는 원효 사상이 불교 사상임에도 불구하고, 그것의 한국학 측면에서의 ‘고유성’과 ‘독특성’을 밝히고자 하는 것이다. 본 연구방향의 정당화를 위해, 원효사상의 특성을 밝히기 위한 현대 연구 성과들을 간단히 정리하고, 불교 외적 영향과 한국학적 영향을 탐구했다.
본 연구는 기존 연구에서 원효 연구의 외연을 한국학이란 관점에서 심리학, 고고학, 역사학, 철학적인 방법을 활용해 간학문적 연구로 확장했다. 그 내용은 다음과 같다.
우선, 원효 연구자들의 기존 연구를 다루었다. 그는 불교뿐만 아니라유가 도가류의 서적들을 공부하고 씨름하며 내면화했다. 이런 불교 외적 영향을 밝히는 연구의 필요성을 다루었다. 둘째, 고대 한국말 ‘한’에담긴 고대 한국인의 존재 이해를 다루었다. 원효의 실존적 근본경험이고대로부터 전해져 온 한국의 ‘문화목록어’라 할 수 있는 우리말 ‘하나’ 혹은 ‘한’의 이해와 깊은 연관이 있다고 보고, 그 안에 담긴 존재 이해를다루었다. 셋째, 고대 한국인들이 만들어 놓은 고인돌의 별자리에 대한철학적 해석과 고인돌을 통해 본 하늘 사랑과 그가 살던 시대의 살아있는 전통 종교인 풍류(風流)를 다루었다. 하늘 사랑과 하느님 사상 전통과단군왕검 조선 건국 이야기를 연관해 다루었다. 넷째, 단군왕검의 홍익인간 이념과 대감굿 그리고 한국 고대 정치·사회제도인 화백(和白)의지혜전통을 원효의 홍익중생과 연관해 다루었다. 다섯째, 신라에는 이전부터 당시까지의 세계적 교류 증거들이 있는데, 이는 다양한 문화가오랫동안 다양한 경로로 신라에 들어와 축적된 점이지대의 문화교류증거들이다. 위 내용들은 원효의 일심(一心) 이해와 일심에 바탕한 화쟁(和諍) 사상을 낳을 수 있는 원동력이었던 것이라 볼 수 있다원효 자신의 근본경험이 그의 고유성과 독특성을 만들어낸다. 그것은집단적 한국인의 근본경험과 한국인의 고유성과 독특성과 깊은 연관을 갖고 있다. 본 연구는 고대 한국인의 계통발생적 지혜가 원효의 개체발생적 지혜를 가능하게 한 불교철학 이해의 바탕이 되었음을 한국학적 관점에서 살펴볼 단서들을 밝히는 것이다.

영어초록

The goal of this thesis is to reveal the ‘uniqueness’ of Wonhyo Thought in the aspect of Korean Studies, even though it is a Buddhist thought. In order to justify the direction of this study, we briefly summarize the results of modern research to reveal the characteristics of Wonhyo thought and explore the influence of Korean studies. This study extended the extension of Wonhyo’s research from the previous research to interdisciplinary research using psychology, archeology, history, and philosophical methods from the perspective of Korean studies.
First, the existing research of Wonhyo researchers was dealt with. He studied, wrestled, and internalized the books of Confucianism and Taoism as well as Buddhism. In this chapter, I dealt with the need for research to elucidate influences other than Buddhism. Second, I dealt with the understanding of the existence of ancient Koreans in the ancient Korean word ‘Han’. Wonhyo’s existential fundamental experience understands the Korean words ‘Hana’ or ‘Han’, which can be said to be the ‘cultural catalog language’ transmitted from ancient times, and deals with the understanding of existence contained in them. Third, it deals with the philosophical interpretation of the constellations of dolmens made by ancient Koreans, the love of heaven seen through the dolmens, and Pungryu(風流), the living traditional religion of the time in which he lived. It deals with the love of heaven, the tradition of God’s thought, and the story of the founding of the Dangun Wanggeom Joseon Dynasty.
Fourth, Dangun Wanggeom’s ideology of Hongik-ingan, Daegam-gut, and the wisdom tradition of Hwa-baek(和白), an ancient political and social system in Korea, were dealt with in connection with Wonhyo’s Hongik-joongsaeng. Fifth, there are evidences of global exchanges from before to that time in Silla, which are evidences of cultural exchanges in the point zone where various cultures have entered Silla through various routes for a long time. The above contents can be seen as the driving force that gave birth to Wonhyo’s understanding of one heart and the idea of harmony based on one heart.
Wonhyo’s own fundamental experiences create his uniqueness. It has a deep connection with the fundamental experience of collective Koreans and the uniqueness of Koreans. The purpose of this study is to reveal clues from the perspective of Korean studies that the phylogenetic wisdom of ancient Koreans became the basis for understanding the Buddhist philosophy that made Wonhyo’s ontological wisdom possible.
