초록

Sucheob military was the officer level military who protected the fortress(城堞), who was perceived lower than general military officer of each military unit(軍門), nevertheless nominally a military officer. Sucheob military was the military who protected the fortress, however they were changed to the military who paid somewhat of rice or cotton fabric. Later, Sucheob military officer was established also in major fortress over the country or Provincial Prosecutors ' Office and Barrack, however they also were changed to the military who paid somewhat of rice or cotton fabric. Seongjeonggun, who were firstly arranged in Hamgyeongdo(咸鏡道) border area district, prepared for protection of the fortress through training by being organized with the regional residents regardless of status. Since then, Seongjeonggun was gradually arranged also in major fortresses over the country.
Sucheob military and Seongseonggun are the same in respect of being arranged for protection of the fortress where they belonged, the organization system, status, and function differed. However, since each organization system and operation system differed along with region, also change appeared regardless of Sucheob military or Seongjeonggun, it is difficult to uniformly define.
In Chokseok fortress(矗石山城) of Jinju, where Gyeongsangwoodo barrack was located, also, Sucheob military and Seongjeonggun were arranged. When investigating the land ownership situation of Sucheob military in Jinju Daegokri(大谷里), no big difference appeared with Banho(班戶)’s land ownership, which was more abundant compared to non-Banho(非班戶)’s land ownership. However, status․role within the clan who entered as Sucheob military or land ownership were variously diversified, also, there was a significant difference among each clan. In the status ascent and confusion of status system during the late Joseon, Sucheob military took the ladder role to upper status.
On the contrary, Seongjeonggun’s land ownership was very small. Seongjeonggun was collected also out of the slaves besides ordinary people. Accordingly, Seongjeonggun from ordinary people, who were trained along with the slaves, were inevitably evaluated low.
