The biggest problem among missionaries is the self sufficiency of the mission field. Making us wonder especially in this time of economic hardships, whether if there was some sort of cheaper and more effective method in doing mission work?
Considering the history of Korean Church growth and experiences we Korean missionaries have gone through, I would like to suggest creating a more effective mission plan that will last longer and effectively use less mission funds. As a witness to how the sacrifices of many senior christians have led to growth in churches, it saddens me to notice how many Korean missionaries are not able to show a successful mission model or receive very negative comments about their work.
Why are missionaries, with their vast experiences and talent, not able to show as much growth in their mission fields?
(1) Missionaries are much to passionate and seldom foresee the fact that they have to learn the country's culture and customs first. (2) The chaos caused by accepting a foreign mission group's policies without revising their policies to match the Korean mission's style. (3) Because Korean missionaries have too little pride in their own spiritual assets. (4) The lack of mission philosophy causes mission funds to be used inefficiently. (5) A Korean Missionary’s much too independent and exploitative personality causes problems within a team mission.
2. Korean Missionaries’ effective mission plan
(1) We have to use the spiritual assets from the Korean church. (2) They can share the experience they have received while serving at a small church. (3) Most of the Korean Missionaries have experienced the army, and is therefore used to team work. (4) Working together with Foreign Mission groups they can share experiences and facilities.
Most mission fields have at least a 100 years of history where senior missionaries who have already set the basis for church growth. Now we can help work together with foreign missionaries who lack church growth experience, and in return use their foundation together.
